MagLite(r) - great for checking for burglers in the house! And then smackin the hell out of them once they are found!

<3 MagLite(r)

EZR (as an aside, they also make great tire thumpers, used mine alot like that back when I was still drivin 18s)

I prefer SureFire tactical flashlights.

In other news, the G11 sort of broke the forward/back mappings in FireFox (USB Overdrive X still recognizes them, but FF doesn't budge). For OS X support of the Macro and G keys, it is probably best to use the ControllerMate package (caution: CM is shareware, but oh so worth it).

Testing the G9 now. So far, it looks and feels sleek and neat, definitely an improvement over my old but great MX518. Works like a charm under OS X (save for the profile button, but CM should be of help there, too), but I don't like the Precision grip, I need some substance to my mouse (real mice have curves). And I'm not sure about the perfect trim yet, I'll have to fiddle some more with the weights.

Three 20 round mags for the USP .45, and a new Mossberg 500 dual pistol grips, and a full tac setup (light, laser, sling, sidesaddle shells).

It's a home security Xmas ;)

Sounds like a present to self, but good present nonetheless.

Your rank-breaking pictures do not phase me, for I have now a side-scrolling mouse!

20rd mags... I'm guessing only for the range? I'm just asking because I hate it when guns get any higher than they already are, makes them unwieldy (and the USP .45 is not exactly a subcompact to begin with).

If the feed is reliable, I'll keep one of the 20 rds in the USP as it's a nightstand gun (when I finally move back to a civilized part of the world where CC is legal, I'll use my P7). But yeah, mostly for the range novelty. And maybe in 4-5 years the unused 20 rds will be worth something (I'm assuming a reenactment of the Assault Weapons Ban at some point in the next 4 years, though it may take two terms).

The conversation usually goes like this:

"Why does a law-abiding citizen need a fully automatic weapon?"

"Because the bad guys have them already? And if you make them illegal, they'll still have them, but I won't, which is bad for me, and -GREAT- for the criminal, since he knows it. duh."

Uh, oh, now this thread gets political....

Nice, Lecter, I'm jealous. I just hope my budget gets to where I can afford a gun at all, while they're still legally for sale.

In further reply to Tosh: the 20 rnd mag length/weight actually (now that it's full of 230 grain golden sabers) seems to balance out an otherwise top-heavy weapon. I'll report back on how it handles after I get it to the range.

It's not a large weapon, by any stretch of the imagination, but I have to say, it has an excellent 'feel' to it.. My 'under the driver seat' gun:

If I could have any gun, I would choose an MG42, mostly for the historical value:

a good freind of mine lost his grandfather (who pretty much raised him) about 3 years ago, supposedly his grandfather actually managed to bring home an mg42, or atleast he said he did, by that time sadly cancer had spread to his brain, so who knows if it's true. His barn is over 4000 square feet, with all kinds of cuby holes and crap (its well over 100 years old), my friend still ain't done searching the place for it.

Odds are there ain't one there at all, but wouldn't that be something if there was.

@Professor Chaos:

This is a beast. During my time at the German army we had the newer model MG3 [1]. If you don't use enough pressure with your shoulder, the recoil can break your collarbone. Don't even think of using it while standing.

Two MG3s can be mounted on a ZwiSoLa [2] for anti aircraft fighting.

Surbius: Very cool, innovative weapon! You know, of all the guys who do shows on Discovery Channel, his is the job I'm most jealous of. Going around shooting the newest guns, blowing up the newest bombs; that would never get old. Thanks for sharing the clip!

I'm a bit divided when it comes to guns. I love the new stuff, the technology is incredible and the power of modern weapons is awesome; but I'm drawn to classics, especially World War II era stuff. I might be biased because my grandfather fought in the Pacific with the Marines (Guam, Guadalcanal, Okinawa and Iwo Jima), but stuff from that war just seems extra cool to me. It's like that with planes, too; sure, modern jets could take down a P-51 Mustang before the Mustang even new there was danger, but the Mustang is still the coolest plane ever made.

JJPro: That's way cool. I didn't know the modern German guns were so closely modeled after the old ones; those look almost identical! It's a mean-looking gun, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing!

I got a mig... and a B3 bomber jacket... NEEEEERRRRRR

Just kidding, though that would be cool... I actually got absolutely nothing except for a bad case of mono (but I actually wanted that B3 bomber jacket D:). A couple days later I went out and bought Left 4 Dead for myself, although with all the uvuzuwups crowding the damned game stores, it just made my mono worse (well worth the game, though ^_^ ).

Lecter: I imagine they would. I'd be interested to hear if that holds true for when it's close to being empty, as well.

In other news, the G9 and G11 now perform wonderfully under OS X, thanks to Steermouse (freeware mouse control panel). I'll still have to look into that CM package for the G11, though, to take advantage of its G and M keys.
