epadafunk, you're mostly lucky. My experience with most of my friends and Windows is that viruses tend to start spreading when you think about the internet.

Pssch. I got a new Dell thinking that at last I could run those progams that aren't compatible with my old Mac, but atleast with that I knew which programs did or didn't work. Vista offers me the excitement of never knowing what to expect! Yaaayz ^-^

upwards of 2/3 of Windows computers are part of zombie botnets. The remaining 1/3 use third party security software. He's probably just lucky (and ignorant) and has only picked up the ones that don't do really obvious things like stop windows from booting.
