Devs, you're gonna support G5's, no?
:drooooooooooooollll:
Sorry, I couldn't resist posting this:

Mmmm... 64 bit architecture... 8x AGP... 1 GHz bus... IBM goodness... I'd actually be suprised if they came out with a version of Vendetta specifically for the G5...
Hey, if they support the PPC970 specifically, I want specific support for my Athlon-64 when I get it!
First, let me say that the PPC970 (G5) is designed to run all existing PPC 32-bit apps.
Is there any assembler in the Vendetta client?

I love the Mac too guys (and am also drooling over the thought of a G5).. but this is soooo off-topic.
FM, can we move this to the off-topic area?
...oh hell! I can't help it! A G5! finally! wooo-hooo!
/me drools, slips on puddle of drool, falls down and hits head

yea, first thing I thought when I came in here was "shouldn't this be in off-topic?"
other than that, DROOL =),,

Hey I take requests.
Too lazy to read the posts
64 bit proccesors do riun 32 bit programs
64 bit proccesors can exicute 2 commands at once, unless the second command depends on the first commands outcome
Devs, i won't kill you if you release a 64 bit version of vendetta!

If Apple sends us a G5, we'll certainly use it. Vendetta would probably not benefit from any traditional 64bit-isms, but it might be able to take advantage of other architectural optimizations supported by the G5. But, a lot of that is up to Apple and what G5-specific optimizations they add to GCC in future revisions of OS X.
In any event, if we did make a G5-specific binary, it would require an "optional patch" on the Updater. This is a feature we built into the Updater's architecture, to potentialy be able to roll out "AMD Optimized" and "P4 Optimized" specific binaries as options for those who have that hardware. However, we're not going to be doing that when we're making a new release every week. It's enough of a hassle maintaining 3 different OSs, without making it 3 OSs with 2 arch-specific versions per OS. This might be something we'd consider around the time of "final release" though.

You could always add a "Donate to the G5" Button.
Optional patches are what we need, some people don't have the modem power for abc AND xyz features, or the processing power for them.
I hope apple takes advantage of the 64 bit processor the G5 powermac has.

Well, you could ask everyone to donate 10 or 20 bucks... You could stick it on the news section...
