Descent Freespace 2 SCP

Oct 03, 2007 Cunjo link
I downloaded the files I could find for the Freespace 2 Source Code Project, but couldn't get it to set up and run on my computer, much to my disappointment.

I really wanted to try FS2, as well as FS1, Silent Threat, and the newer TCs (like Shadows of Lylat) under the FS2 SCP engine.

Does anyone else have any experience in running the FS2 SCP under Windows?

Windows XP SP2
Core 2 Duo @ 3.2GHz
2 Gig RAM
GeForce 8800 GTS
native resolution 1680x1050 (this has been a snag in many other games....)

I've used SCP a bit on all 3 platforms. Where did you get stuck with it? It can be a bit tricky to get up and running at first.

Regarding Bioshock, I've heard lots of people having bad luck with it crashing at various points, but I haven't run into any of it myself.

I start it, and it minimizes to the taskbar and won't come back up. Have to force quit using task manager.

EDIT: I fixed bioshock by locating the config file and hacking it to reflect my native resolution as default (1680x1050) it seems most of the games I use need some kind of additional instruction to run at my resolution, including Battlefield, which I need to feed a +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050 with the shortcut.

I couldn't locate an equivalent setting in FS2, but it wouldn't be far out to assume it's the same problem.
