They're getting 710m for it. That's pretty good considering they've basically relegated themselves to nothing more than "just another white box manufacturer".
That's the danger of trying to compete on the PC platform. They're all basically just the same with off the shelf components, cheapo custom cases with the end result that anyone can build the same machine.
On the PC front, the only place manufacturers can still build something and get credit for it is the laptop market where it's damn harder to come up with a decent package, given you can't really assemble one with off the shel parts.
And that's one segment Gateway never made any good: laptops.
In the end, they got acquired and that's good. Because they were going to fold pretty soon.

Meh. They've been worthless for years. I remember getting my first Gateway (A P-II 350MHz box with an abundant 64MiB of RAM) and being very happy with it. It was lean, smooth, and well-built. My second (and final) Gateway was an Athlon-950 with 256 MiB of RAM. The machine was physically just as well built, but the OS was loaded with so much crapware that it was unbelievable. I never did manage to get all of the AOL versions pre-installed off of the system until I reformatted. Gateway is even worse than Dell wrt pre-installed crap. Maybe now that they're part of Acer, they'll go back to making lean, plain machines.
lol.

Why not just change the name to Packard Bell.. I mean.. Acer? lol.

They tried to safe the Amiga, once upon a time. Now that was a real computer ;)
Emphasis on 'was'. :P
I feel bad about Amiga, though.
