W T F

What The Fruitcake

I think he's wondering why you suggest this.

Oh. Because football is fun, fantasy football is fun, and it may be cool to do a league with VO homies.

What IS Fantasy Football? And do you mean the rugby for the less courageous (and less self-destructive), or the thing you prefer to call soccer?

I'm gonna assume you aren't from America, tosh? I mean football, like the awesome kind, not the lame soccer kind.

He means rugby for sissies, Tosh.

By "rugby for sissies", you mean that god-awful waste of television time, right Scuba?

I'd rather watch two turtles run a marathon.

Or three death threats to a tumble!

I still don't get what Fantasy Football is supposed to be, then. And yes, I'm aware of such services as Google and wikipedia. But I want him to explain it, since he brought it up. I'm not set against it, you know.

And no, I'm not from the U.S.. I'm european.

toshiro: instead of wasting time in front of the TV, the person wastes time on the computer putting players from teams all over the place together into a "fantasy" team. I have no idea what the point of it is beyond a timesink, because you're never ever going to get those teams to play a game.

And moldy, you neither play nor pay, and you've clearly indicated you don't want to come back. Why are you still on the forums?

Nowhere else can I get first quality drama-ramas.

Like Miharu said in such a negative manner, you pick players and put your team together, and then each week you get points depending on how well those players perform. You play against a different team from your league (usually 8-12 teams are in a league) each week, and whichever team in that "match up" gets more points is the winner. Towards the end of the real football season, the top teams with the most wins continue into the playoffs, and play against each other. During this time, if you lose, you're out, and whichever team is left at the end is the winner.

As for the point, it's another form of social interaction. Some people put money on it (ie, $5 to play, and the winner gets all the money that was put in), although my friends and I do not. Some people join leagues with random peeps on the internet, (like the VO league would sort of be), and others (myself included, with the possible but probably not-gonna-happen VO league as an exception) just do it with friends in real life.

And Miharu, since you are obviously so interested in making every daily activity have a "point," I in turn ask you... What the point is of sitting in an IRC channel all day with other people (99% of whom you will never meet) collecting obscure knowledge, while also browsing a video game's forums for the purpose of tossing out death threats and other jabs whenever possible?

Giving you something to talk about.

Also, I'm idle a lot of the time I'm in the channel, as I have been rather busy running around visiting people and getting school shopping done before I go back to school tomorrow.

Hmm... will it be run in a browser?

Yes, Tosh.

I might take a look at it... are you going to code it?
Aug 20, 2007 smittens link
No, you just do it through Yahoo (or espn.com or nfl.com...but I use yahoo)

I'm in. Hip me to the league name, Smitty, and give me an invite. I'll enjoy kicking your ass in FF.
