Also of note is that all of the XPS 410 configurations (including the one in that picture) are at least $100 more than an iMac configured as closely as possible. :-)

It's great, till a part breaks down. And I lol at "Apple warranties". Nothing but bad experiences with them.

Chances are you either had a very old (more than five years old, at which point they do not carry replacement parts) computer or chose not to purchase the AppleCare plan, Erik.

I've had nothing but good experiences with them, and they've been more than helpful with any issues I've ever had.

Does anyone know how the ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO would run VO at maximum settings? Everyone has been bashing this card on other forums and it seems to be the weakest part of the system.

Probably about as well as the GeForce 8600M in the MacBook Pro. There aren't many in-depth reviews of this card out there yet. Most of them show such abysmal performance that the prerelease drivers they were using must have been broken. Anyhow, it should be able to handle VO with everything except AA. Which doesn't matter much, since the OS X client doesn't (AFAIK) support AA anyway.

Apple's probably using the 2600 Pro because it is so low-power that it can be passively cooled. Yay quieter machines!
