Sometimes I wish they would just let my favorite old television series fade in to history gracefully.

that never happens.

as a kid, we had a kids show called "bobino et bobinette". the later character was a kid girly puppet whose passion was to play pranks on bobino (a mr. rogers -like hobo), mostly consisting of exploding flour firecrackers, covering bobino and invariably sending the show off for a commercial break.

well, the actor who played bobino for twenty-some years died of a heart attack, related to his heavy cocaine use. i see cause and effect here.

no tv show ever ends gracefully.
