canceling aol to music
I absolutely support the brutal torture and eventual killing of anyone who thinks they can, because they were hired to be a pissant cog in the AOL system, jerk someone around like that.
If "Vincent" had tracked that man down and skinned him alive for fun... I'd vote to acquit :)

I would vote reanimate the "Customer Service" guy and skin him alive again. Give him Orson Scott Card's Thousand Deaths.
Every single person I know who had A.O.Hell gave up trying to get them to cancel the account and instead simply stopped paying them. In one case AOL kept on bothering the guy to pay for the service he didn't want till he threatened to press charges on them. What kind of charges they would have been I do not know (I'm guessing extortion or fraud), perhaps the doc would know.
Time Warner/AOHell. Lovely company. Really didn't mind the thrice a day resets for random reasons.
I have had what look... explained actually happen to me! I think it was AOL 6, so quite a few years ago now, but basically, I signed up for the free 30 day trial, due to my usual ISP having issues, I was never intending to keep it active for more than a few days...
...After several phone calls, (they were charged at a premium rate too!) I decided to just instruct my bank to not pay AOL. About 6 months later the cheeky soso's sent me a statement for about £160, which I promply put in the bin, another year passed, and I got a statement for about £400, realising they were just going to keep on coming, I phoned them, and told them to shove it, I explained to the guy that I had not used the account past the free trail, and he tried to tell me the account was always active! After hearing this lie, I told him he better have proof for a court room, never heard from them since, but the funniest thing is, THE DAMN ACCOUNT IS STILL ACTIVE! >.<

Strangely, if you take YoB's route here in the U.S., you may well be fucked. The unpaid bill, correct or not, could wind up blowing a hole in your credit report. Expunging such a thing, even if you finally figure out it's there, is apparently a cast iron royal fucking bitch. And then some.
