New AI technology: Hardware-Accelerated AI
Although it seems practical results are still years away, this might still be interesting.
The biggest problem I see with this is that it can result in massive gameplay changes, making it hard to enter into the PC multiplayer market. It could work if the card unlocked more AI modes if the host has the card.
Will this ever actually see widespread use? I just don't honestly think anyone but the 707411y 1337 g4m0rz will even bother with this- whether or not there are games that take advantage or even require it. As for the games that might require it, they would most likely lose a ton of potential market for just needing that extra hardware.
The most likely use for this is next gen consoles. Like, the 2010 ones.
I see SkyNet™ coming soon. Who knew that, instead of a single military installation, that it would end up being born of thousands of linked XBox 3's?
Huh... the way I see it, the AI in VO is being made on the server, isn't it? So, basically, only GSW would have to get these (if and when they ever get out).
Ah, point taken. It would make more sense in the case of MMO developers where that extra AI would give them more of an edge over competitors.
Oops. Stupid cookies.
