I'll bet you 1 MCr that there won't be a port to the Mac, but instead, only to Windows Vista something.
May 12, 2006 SPACERANGER link
Probably. And it'll suck on Windows.

Heh, don't hold your breath - we still don't have a Windows port for Halo 2.

EDIT: Shit, I can't play the trailer, because xbox.com will only work in MSIE, and MSIE is a piece of crap that won't play anything.

Fuck Microsoft.

What? I saw it on Firefox. Methinks something (or someone) else is da piece o crap dat won't play a thing >_>

in Firefox: Sound, but no picture
in MSIE: Nothing
in Firefox with IETab: application crash
in Windows mediaplayer (downloadable .wmv version): plays the first 2/3 of it, then gives "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

Thank you Microsoft for your closed standards and buggy b0rken bullshit.

my mplayerplug-in is kinda b0rked at the moment, but both formats downloaded okay.. the quicktime is fine in mplayer standalone, but the .wmv is pretty screwed up, I agree... it starts to play fine, then "too many video packets in buffer"'s and the sound cuts out (video seems fine, though)... console says "Maybe you are trying to play a non-interleaved file or the codec failed?"

..sounds like someone screwed up encoding it, 'cuz I don't get any "codec not found" errors..

It sucks to be you two guys. Then again, everybody already knew that :P

Cunjo, last I heard, Halo 2 was said to be ported to Windows Vista only. The goals of this are obvious, however shortsighted and silly they may be.

I don't see the problem with that. I mean, Macs can run Windows now, can't they? :P
May 16, 2006 moldyman link
Intel Macs, yes

jex, rebooting is annoying. And you still need to buy or pirate Vista.

Or Cedega :)

Pirate vista... what's this buy business?

Windows Vista hasn't been released yet, so you obviously can't buy it, and since it hasn't ben released yet, neither has Halo 2 for PC.

The probability of me ever buying Windows Vista is about the same as the probability of me buying an Xbox 360... that is to say, none.

I'll just wait until someone figures out how to hack Halo 2 and 3 into Linux.

I wouldn't, Cunjo, coz, if you can't even make your browser play a simple movie, what are the chances of you getting an emulator to run?!
May 19, 2006 toshiro link
I didn't say it had been released yet... just that Halo 2 was going to be an Xbox/Vista only title.

Anyway, I don't think I will use the dual boot much once I get my hands on an intel mac. I'm just no fan of the windows os. The only thing that worries me is how the game developers/porters will react.
