This is actually fairly old, but may still be new to some of you... an interesting read to be sure.

At a quick glance, this doesn't seem right. Pain is a necessary response to certain stimuli and also a warning message from your body or mind.

Will read it more thoroughly later and revise my comment, possibly.

Also took a quick look. Doesn't seem like a good idea - from what toshiro said, but psychological stress / pain / discomfort is also necessary in order for humans to progress and develop.

What strikes me though, is that he/she who wrote the article seems to think that somehow, it would be possible for them to pull it off. Just think of how many governments and people would be strongly opposed to the prospect, and stand in the way.
