All settings maxed out on my GF 5600 FX and I don't usually drop below 15fps. Considering that I have vsync on and the monitor has a 60Hz refresh rate, that's not bad. :P And if I turn down my Distance LOD to 12 or so, I get dramatically better refresh rates in the "bone" roid fields (who made that nickname anyhow?).

I don't know who first made it, but it fits. They look like bones.

Dau G-11 also kills my framerates. Give that a try too. I've encountered at least 4 or 5 other sectors that kill my framerates, when I normally get 50-60 FPS in most other sectors.

Listen, some people may have uber systems to play games with, and may not even notice the more demanding sectors. That's fine. But then there's the rest of us who have medium or low-end systems. So believe me, sectors like that exist.

The only suggestion I can offer is to let the devs know about them in the bugs forum so they can optimize those troubled sectors. It's simply poor design in a game to have inconsistent framerates like that. BUT understandably they've got other things to focus on right now. I just hope it'll eventually be resolved.

Well those sectors are for the eye candy hardcore "GOTTA BUY THE NEWEST GRAPHICS CARD" fanatics.
