that is a horrible example, most english teachers would have failed you just for putting the number 1 and not the word one. Apperently and is used in a more dynamic way. IE: "And now ladies and gentlemen, Guildsoftware now presents, Version 3.2!" Also this number usage is correct since it's the title of the second noun.
