Overheard at a bar in Initros
Now, if you hang out around certain stations long enough, you’ll see the damndest things. Like the time I was strip mining for pyro outside one of my favorite Serc stations. That moth sure does suck up ore. Keepin’ one eye on my radar, I notice a Serc Lancer jump in. Not just any Lancer, one that had been splashin’ some of my fellow guilders. So I keep him in my scope to see what he’s doin’. And what he’s doin’ is prowling around the station, like he’s waitin’ for a hot date or somethin’. I’m just about to hail him just to see what in the world he’s up to, when a UIT Lancer bolts out of the station and transmits “YARRR” in sector. Well, the Serc shoots the UIT, blows him up, and then hightails it for the wormhole, strike force in hot pursuit.
A couple minutes after the station retrieves the UIT’s capsule, out he comes in a new ship, laughing. I hail him and ask what happened. He tells me that he was “helping” the Serc Lancer get a “reputation” with the local authorities. I was still tryin’ to shake that bad Serc rap I got from bumping into the Ratman. I’d have gladly traded that Lancer his rep for mine.
Another time, outside the same station, Yoda was hangin’ around. I like Yoda, even though it’s tough to understand the way he kinda’ talks backwards. Out of the blue, Yoda starts laughin’ in that weird Yoda way. Before I can ask him what’s up, the local strike force starts chasin’ him. But instead of runnin' for the wormhole, he flies right at my moth. I decide he’s lost his mind, and that I’ll be scraping little Yoda pieces off the side of my ship.
At the last second, Yoda veers off, pulling more Gs than I want to think about. But the Seeker behind him doesn’t. It splats against the side of my moth, just like one of them Road Runner cartoons. Yoda just keeps laughin' that weird laugh and heads off.
