Things to learn.
Hello there!
I am genka, which you could probably see already. In-game I am knows as [syn]n00b and pirate people. Today I will be your guide through the exciting world of Vendetta Online!
I think I'll break this post into a buncha sections, in order to minimize the amount of work I do. So there.
[1] intro.
[2] basic controls.
[3] station interface.
[4] missions.
[4] combat.
[5] trading.

Intro! Leik, omg!
Hello! This is the intro. Here I'll yap about what you do when you first get into the game.
Now then, once you manage to get vendetta up and running (easy) you'll probably need to log in (harder) by clicking the play button, and typing in your vendetta username and password. Once that's done you'll need to click the connect button, rather than the cancel button.
Hooray! You should be logged into and connected to the server! Give yourself a pat on the back, and maybe take a break before going on to the next section. Creating a character!
To create a character you'll need to click the 'create new character' button and then type in your new character's name and select the characters race. Not that hard, really. At this point you'll be slung back to the just-connected-to-server state. At this point you'll probably want to select the character you just created and jump into the game. To do this click the select button, and boom! You're in the game! Of-course, if you want to, you can create some more characters, if that's your idea of fun.
Now then, you're connected, you have a character, and you're ingame. What now?
Well, now, you're staring into the face of the 'buy ship screen' about which I might talk about later. As you can see, you already have a choice as to what you can buy, an EC-88 or an EC-98. Unfortunately, the EC-98 costs moneys, which you have none of, so the EC-88 it is. Anyway, it's a great ship. At this point you could click the 'buy' button, but I think we'll delay that moment a bit longer with a brief speech about the color picker which allows you to choose the color of your ship and is located down at your bottom right. Okey, now you can click the 'buy' button.
Wee, now you're in the standard, everyday 'buy' screen. Yay, a station. I'd give you a quick rundown of things, but NooOOoo... I'm too lazy. So just click the 'leave station' button.
oOooooo... Pretty... But now what? Now, it's time to go on to the... CONTROLS SECTION!!!
Controls! Leik, omg!
The controls section! It will probably be around flying around or something...
Okey-dokey. You're outside the station, and if the controls system still defaults to arcade, you're probably not moving. While pretty and vaguely interesting, sitting still and admiring the background and maybe the asteroids is not the most exciting of things. So let's start out foray into the world of moving by turning! If you're using a mouse, move it. Woah! You turned! Things moved! It all looks different!
So, why not turn all the way around?
If you DID turn around you should see a dock-like thing with a blue force-field type thing. This is a perfect time to say a word about docking. The dock thing with the blue force field is NOT the dock you enter to get into the station. It is the dock you come out of the station, NOT the dock you get into the station through. The dock you go in through looks like a box type thing with arrows pointing toward it on either side. And to dock, you'd need to go inside that box and press your activate key.
Let's get back to turning. As you may have noticed, there is a little circle which tries to follow the center of your screen as you turn. This circle is an indicator of where your ship is actually pointing. Always keep in mind that what you see might not be what your ship sees.
In addition to wibbling the mouse around to turn, you can also rotate your ship clockwise and counter-clockwise using the 'q' and 'e' buttons of your keyboard. Try it out, it's fun.
Wee. We've learned all about turning and rotating! Now let's get into moving. To move you push wsad keys in the same way you would in any other first person shooter, with the difference that in arcade mode, 'w' and 's' set your throttle, much like in a flight sim. Yay, we're moving. Now then, how to stop? Well, besides the obvious 'set throttle to zero' solution, there is also a momentary solution which stop your ship, but keeps your throttle at what it was. You just press the space bar.
Okey, so we can fly around the sector we're in, and dock. Wee. Now what? Well, now, we're going out of the sector! EXCITEMENT! To do this we'll need to get to a point where the 'distance to nearest object' meter reads a green 3000, and press the 'n' key to bring up the navigation screen. Once in the navigation screen you'll probably want to click on the 'universe map' button to check out what the whole damn place looks like. Pretty, isn't it? Anyway, click the 'zoom to sector' button to get back to our mission of getting out of the starting sector. In the 'sector' section of the navigation screen, find, on the grid thing, a square with a swirly glue thing. The swirly blue thing indicates that there is a wormhole in that sector. Click on that square and press the jump button. Admire the pretty animation.
If no matter how much you fly around the meter thing reads a solid 0 you are either flying in circles around an asteroid, or you're in a storm! If you ARE in a storm, congratulations! Your first storm wasn't in a sector with lots of mean bots wanting to eat your brain! To get out of the storm you need to get to the storm exit point indicator thing and then follow the instructions for jumping.
Now then, if you managed to do everything right, you should be in a sector with a wormhole. Yay. Wormholes work a lot like a dock, you fly at them, and then once you're inside, you press enter. Wee, off to a different system!
Now try and see if you can get back to the sector you started out in! Fun!
Station interface! Leik, omg!
Stations, stations, and nothing but stations.
A major part of the station interface is the chat bar down below. You usually chat with it. As you can see there are three tabs up top of the chat bar thing. Go ahead and click on the one that says 'general.' At the bottom there are four buttons, each one corresponding to a specific kind of chat. Most the talking happens in the channel chat, so switch over there and type something. Or don't. At least you should try joining a different channel by typing in '/join 67' or some other number. You can also leave channels by typing in '/leave 67' or whatever the channel you want to leave is. You can listing in on up to 32 channels, with the last one you joined being the one you send to. If you want to send to a different channel just '/join' the one you want to talk at. Quite simple.
Anyhoo, back to the station interface. The bigger, more important part of it.
There are tabs up top of the station. There are nine of them. Wee.
The good news is you can hit shift+h in any of them and get a helpfuler help thing. It like, helps you.
The first tab is the 'buy' tab. If you had any money you'd be able to buy upgrades for your ship and cargoes to sell to other stations. On the left side of the screen is a list of things the station is willing to sell you. On the right is a box that holds information about an object when you select it. Below that box is a 'Buy ship' button which brings up the good 'ole familiar buy ship screen.
The second tab is the sell button. here you will see a list of things you have in the station and might be able to sell. It works pretty much like the buy tab, but you sell things rather than buy them. There's even a 'buy ship' button down there.
The third tab is the repair tab. This tab also works a lot like the buy tab, only in this case you repair your active ship rather than buy things.
The fourth tab is the ammo tab. Works just like the buy screen, based on what ammo-based weapons you might have equipped. To bad you don't have any yet...
The fifth tab is the ship tab. This one works a bit different. Here, on the left, you have a list of ports your ship has. Most ships have a battery port and at least one weapon port into which you can fit some sort of upgrade you'd have bought with the buy screen. the upper-right window type thing is a listing of avalible upgrades, and the bottom right window thing is a description of the selected upgrade. To equip an upgrade you'd click on a port, then click on an upgrade and then click the equip button. It's all pretty self-explanatory.
The sixth tab is your cargo tab. Useful for trading and such. It works much like the ship tab, only there are no ports to select. You just load and unload stuff with the buttons. This is also pretty self explanatory. So there.
The seventh tab is the weapon groups tab. In this case you click on a weapon group on the right side of the screen and then select the weapons (if only you had more than one...) on the left for that group. After you select all the weapons you want you absolutely HAVE to click apply. A lot of people have had lots of trouble with this concept back in the day.
The eighth tab is the character info tab. Here is where you can view all sorts of information about yourself, as well as your complete inventory, including ships and cargo stored in other stations.
The ninth tab is the missions tab. On the left side of the tab there is a list of missions you can take. To take a mission, select the mission, click the 'info' button and read about it. Then feel free to click either of the two buttons below.
That's it about tabs, but not quite it as far as stations go in general. There's still the row of buttons below the tab thingy. The buttons are 'leave station' 'set home station' 'select ship' 'map' 'options' and 'quit.' Most of these are pretty obvious, with the exception of 'set home station.' This button will make the station you are currently in the station you would return to if you died. There we go then. That's it about stations.
Missions. I don't often do missions, so just click the tutorial missions thing and hit info. It ought to be fairly self-explanatory.
Combat. You point and you shoot. How much easier could it be?
Trade. I don't trade. If you want to trade find someone that trades. Or do trading missions.
I lied about misc. There is no misc. Find your own misc.

Holey monkeys, how the hell did I manage that? Err.. um.. I coulda sworn I was posting in general. I swears.
its a bug...
How do I dock?
[moved to Role Playing]
slaps phoenix and states, you see that big opening with the blue shield ???
Go away from it for 1 km, and act as if you would like to ram the station, but in stead of ramming it, you point ot that prior mentioned opening and slide in and press enter in the nick of time.
If you fail, then you do this again and again untill you succeed.
And I suggest to use this tactic for all the people that are even slightly inclined towards pirating. You can beleive me, it will be the best bang for your invested money.
Really I mean this, sure I do ...

bump. Devs/FM, can you pin this to the top? I think it will greatly help newbies. Some of it is out of date already, but for the most part, it helps. I'll dig out my "Learn the Lingo" thread on the General board... that should help too.
PEOPLE!!!! POST IN THIS BOARD SO THAT THE NEWBIES KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY WILL GREATLY APPRECIATE IT IF WE HAVE HELP LAID OUT FOR THEM WHEN THEY ARRIVE. I WOULD, AND YOU PROBABLY WOULD TOO. THIS WILL HELP MANY TO LOOK AT VENDETTA AND SAY, "OH YEAH, THEIR COMMUNITY ROXORS AND I WANT TO COME BACK AND PLAY SOME MORE!!"
yeah, just do it.

I'll start compiling the info and I'll work on formating it so it can go into the FAQ area of the site.
If your still having trouble docking you might need a new docking pass. I can sell you one ... I probably shouldn't though, they are pretty expensive. I could maybe make a deal if you wanna buy a wormhole pass too.
Hoax, you're really trying to piss off the noobs, aren't you.
Are you still mad about the "Icarus Repelent"? I swear it worked for me. Anyway read the disclaimer next time. Besides it was Soy Bomb who was selling the fake passes. I guarantee docking ability or double your money back. Get the real deal from Hoax, don't be a sux0r!
That Icarus Repelent doesn't work for a fly!! I think you should go to Vegas; people might actually buy this stuff there!!!
:P
