Research done on "Spacial Storms"
For those of you who know about this, you can turn back anytime.
I conducted a series of tests this morning starting at 9am EST and came up with these results:
Storms are localized in a sector which is usually vacant. It attractsanything that comes near it. You can actually warp into the "stormed" area and just sit there. The scenery is the default of the sector, nothing special. Radio contact and navigation are not affected, but the only thing that will register on your radar will be the Storm Exit Jump Point. The jump point is not a wormhole, but a marker. It tells you that you can sector-warp out. Once in range of the gate, your Nearest Large Object spikes from 0m to 3000m, allowing you to continue on course.
If you'd like to see a storm for yourself, and have a good Itani standing, pay a visit to Azek I-10. If my research is correct, you'll be pulled right in. I'll continue to do research on these phenomenon until everything is known.

/me sits and waits for a dev to come by and prove you right OR wrong... :P
+ Maybe the storms are you random and can happen anywhere =)

Come on devs, prove me right! Prove me right!
I found one! From Odia O-10 warping to Odia M-14, it took me to Odia M-12. Moo.
correction: if you are in a storm, enemies will register on your radar (and thus, i dare say, everything).
Are they in fixed positions? Or are they random? I think they're random.
They are in fixed positions. My research can prove it.
tosh, I meant that nothing showed up in my radar in Azek I-10 coz it was an empty sector.

oh. correct, then. it wasn't readily apparent that you were talking about azek i-10 exclusively.
What I would love to learn is how long these storms last... or IF they have a duration at all (as opposed to being permanent).
ive been noticing that very often they move around. IE yesterday there were no storms in odia m-14 however today there is one.
Oh yeah... They definatly move. Right in your way. And then throw you to the other side of the system.
i was noticing last night that the storms seem to gravitate towards stars. can anyone confirm this? I was traveling through several sectors and checking out the stars in them, and noticed that a lot of the stars had storms around them. Might have been coincidence...
There are more than 1 storm in each system.
They move with regular intervals, But I think each storm has their own interval start/end point.
There was a bug with the storms that would make you end up in one even if it wasn't on your path. That was fixed by a1k0n the other day. That was also why storms used to place you in the whole wrong side of the system.

I already see the next guild -- "VWC: Vendetta Weather Channel"
Storm chasers, spotters, etc. (but no troopers) giving current storm reports to those in good standing with VWC.

BTW, that's not "thgin krej" but rather "thgink rej" -- my name backwards -- back then, I wasn't creative enough to come up with a fancy pseudonym.
