I'm done (cont2)
This is what the forum moderator said:
"If you are expecting a fully polished game experience right away, you should look elsewhere for now. Come back in a few months and it will be different."
I NEVER said I was unhappy with the game in terms of a full fledge, gaming polished experience. I left because I could not beta test without griefers, could not try new aspects of the game without griefers, and could not ask for help without rude responces. Geesh, did you even read my thread? It isn't about this game being unfinished, it's about this game being unplayable/testable because of lack of monitoring and player control.

For the love of God, he's locking for a reason. Just go elsewhere.
Agreed.
Pooh, you were either operating under false assumptions (hell, no one lets you "test" the flag-capping feature), or had unrealistic expectations. Realism is a valuable thing here. If you need help beta-testing, there are always several players online willing to help. I will probably venture that even the SAW would back off from you to allow bug-testing. You just have to ask nicely--saying "wtf ass back off" is not going to win you a compliant pilot. Remember the immortal words of the forum CoU: "Be nice."

I actually meant "you" in a general sense, so I can see your point...sorta.
The kind of control and monitoring that you are requesting would have to require a complex and time-intensive software solution of some sort, which is not in the cards for the moment as many other issues are a priority, or a much larger and more oppressive in-game guide presence. Guides would have to police griefing and make all sorts of subjective decisions about what to interfere in. My own solution would be to severely limit the days and hours that the test is open to coincide with patch releses and monitoring hours, carefully limit applications for testers, and...well, _I_ wouldn't want to play at that point. I'm assuming that many people feel the same. These are the problems we have at the moment. Come back in a few months and we'll have different ones :)

If you limit the time the game is on then nobody will play it. Having the freedom to get on at any point and see some people you would never see on, or talk to people you would never meet, is 1 of the greater aspects of this game. Sure griefers and pirates are just part of the game. Contrary to what many people think: pirates and griefers are needed.
My explanation: if griefers and pirates werent on then everytime a person was killed they would become more violent to other players. If you died in a duel or a nation war repeatedly a player will be affected. Self control is needed, knowing when and for how long you should take a break from the game is the key to enjoying your time here. A pirate and griefer allows players to release their "rage" or "anger" without affecting anyone who really cares, I doubt that pirates and griefers really care of what other players think of them. Pirates and griefers, all though they are jerks at times (i personally have been pirated by people who i thought were cool - doenst stop me from talking to them) but they give the players to work for. I am pretty sure that Asteroid X (now A.K.A) wouldnt have become a "good" (i use the term loosely because of players who believe he sucks as a pirate) pirate without pirates like ScubaSteve 9.0 (Skrail), or Icarus, or Phoenix (on Itani - when A.K.A was NTL) griefing and pirating him. people trade to make enough money to survive pirates, and griefers, and duels, and wars. The trick is finding a good time to trade and a good hobby to do while you are not trading (I bot).
Anyone who says that i dont know what im talking about, should know 1 thing: i have done all of the above. I had, have, and will be warned about my language and my emotional connection the game. It sucks to die, oh well, get over it. 1 more thing: i have been able to survive all of my pirates, and griefers, and duels, and wars... if i can then anyone can.
NO IM NOT A PACIFIST - if you cant fight, learn how to, and if you cant (like me) then at least try!

Overall FM sad it best: we owe the devs for creating such a great game. We signed on to help them discover new bugs and glitches in the game. We volunteered, they dint force us to do anything besides follow the rules while playing and not finding the bugs. if you find a bug report it, if you abuse a bug then you will be "suspended" or "expelled." be careful of your language, and dont disregard the requests of a guide or dev. its that simple
NO IM NOT BECOMING A PREACHER!!!

The point being made, I think, was that there were too many griefers and people who didn't listen to "non hostile, bug testing" that made him unable to bug test. Think you missed that part spec.
Actually, I managed to test the flag bug, But i had to pick a time when other players would allow it to happen.
Funilly enough the first time i went to test, Interfearance from my own team caused the bug test to fail lol.
No biggie, With time, And players who are willing to help, You can test any bug you want.
*edit, Haveing a decent reputaion helps a little as well

made some attempts to trade today in a maud with amq, pickpocket and agy around... needless to say I was pirated and my nanites were scattered across sector 11 (more than once sigh), and my radioactive components were forever lost in s10
I was irritated/frustrated. Fighter Escort #2 was helping me and compensated me for my losses, but I felt really bad for all the trouble he had to go through. however, after a while, I got over it and had quite a good time in s7 with pickpocket and amq.
trading, bug-testing, training, or even exploring can get hopelessly tedious when you get killed every 10 min, but such activities are still fun and worthwhile.
*hey, if you're griefed till you have only 6000 creds, go test the limits of the sector! I have evoli spacing in a bus :D, and you're welcome to join (I'll /explode and start over). when we hit 10 million, we can try to dogfight, the shots are wobbly out there. no pirates, no griefers ;)... anyone who wants to visit must have an unreal engine.*
evoli thinks about it for a while, hits /explode, and starts spacing with a rag (she wants to bring swarmers and a whole load of other weapons to deep space and see how they behave)

doesn't the server /kill you if you exceed 2.something something something million from the center of the sector to protect the octree?
anyway.. Pooh, I am unsure what happened that you had such a bad time in vendetta, There are pirates and griefers and it is something that has to be dealt with in the future. However, as the community currently has no external regulations imposed on it by the software, What FM said is totally accurate. The game EXPERIENCE is not polished or complete at this time. Devs are devoting their time to Missions, Reputations, (the economy.. i hope) and not worrying about policing the community.
I agree that the community has some uhh, less than great, people in it at the moment, and if it has frustrated you, please by all means, take a few weeks away from the game, I do so occasionally. Most of the truly old-school vets are either mainly away from the game or primarily inactive right now. That doesn't mean that they won't be back after the game gets more polished. Even with all the griefers in the game right now, Vendetta has more interest for me than ANY other game on the market that I have seen.

It cuts you off, but doesn't /kill you. I got to 3mill once...
still goin' strong.
you get brought back to 2000800 if you logoff, then login;
so needless to say, I'll have to keep my computer running.
the tachyon shots are showing the slightest wobble now. must...go...further.
must... unlease... swarms

if im not mistaken thats how some people crashed sectors so becareful if you do that mouse, the devs were kinda mad last time
no i dint miss what pooh said, im saying that i faced the same problems as he did, maybe a bit more depending on what nation he was on, and i got over it. sure it bugs me and sure it will make me very angry, but i got over it. you dont see me holding a grudge against Evhun/Archon/Grim because he pirated me the other day do you? no, why not? cause i got over it.
mouse has proven that its possible to trade and make money, Zeplin proved that its possible to test without being violent or hostile, and i think i have proven that taking a break might help things a bit, and not everyone that pirates you does it out of personal reasons, to which you make them into for yourself.

The spacing problem is supposedly fixed.
The reason it brings you back to 2000800 is because the server doesn't register you as having gone farther than that. As in, the server doesn't know you're still moving. I'm not sure if it even keeps the connection alive or not...
So, yes, the spacing problem is not just supposedly fixed, but has been fixed for an awfully long time.

From the "super spacing" thread in the General forum:
"2004-03-18 21:38:44 a1k0n
um, what? No, it's not a signed int. It's not an int at all. It's a 32-bit float, so once you get to a certain point, the "repulsive wall" is just floating point inaccuracy; adding your velocity ceases to actually change your position.
I just found and fixed another octree bug thanks to someone spacing themselves in sector 4. Someone is still doing it, in fact. You can stop now; the sector is ignoring you.
Also, I finally understand and fixed the bug that has been plaguing the server for weeks. "

And now, as we have gone quite off topic, we ARE done.
