Well.. almost nobody knows about 'betas' or 'alphas' or development stuff etc, so you shouldn't really worry..>>

Hmm, Unfortunately many people are UNAWARE that this is just a test when they first join. They click on a link on a messageboard, hear about ti word of mouth, stumble into it on a web search, etc. and dont realize it's a test. It is very easy to access, (thanks guild) and it really does play in some ways like a completed game. I can see Maj-Armstrong's point, however as I see it the only way to remove the menace would be for guildsoftware to require testers to submit an application to join the test, and personally activate each account in some fassion to make sure that everyone knows it is ONLY a test.

During the test, people might find that it's just not fun. Usually you do not come back and check things that aren't fun, and since there's no release date yet, the game slips into the back of your mind and you forget about it. After all, why remember a agrivating/angering game?

I'm not saying there be no pirates, I'm just saying that maybe yall should look at the ranking system thread and see what you can do to prevent piracy. If the game is to be an RPG, you cant have people getting killed no matter where they are, unless in the home system or their bot system. Maybe there should just be more systems and more bots.

Oh for god's sake... this is the RP BOARD people, can we not be doing all these vague OOC generalisations?

Obviously as a Serco pilot, having strong pilots "influencing" others to red is a good thing. I didnt say I (me) wanted that to happen in the long term.

I think everyone can agree that this has been a good thread; everyone has made excellent points. I come away from this enlightened.

I think this thread has run its course.

Durgia, the thing is i could lose that million fairly quickly then have to *gasp* trade to make cash, where as when i pirate i have a semi-steady sorce of income.

Yes sure, the elite "rogues" should respect their power by flying around space doing nothing at all. Since this is Space Quake 3008 and has no RPGing elements the only thing to do in this game is to kill people. Deal with it.

Wow, you sure are helping to solve the problem, seraphim. Your completely intellectual posts have simply *stunned* me.

Okay, just for repition. The whole idea of a multinational force has been proposed before by several groups, SDF, DSG and the SM tried. The problem is NO ONE wants this. It's another control over them and they dont like it.

The offer for a coaltion force based AROUND the SDF, not LED by teh SDF, simply BASED on it, is still open as far as I am concerned, of course, I would have to discuss the SDF fully endorsing this matter with the XO, and DO.

Now, coalition or not, Piracy, Griefing and other such criminal activities will continue until a control for them is insituted. So...

The DSG is just such an organization. We just ask that you not favor your nation in any DSG related business. There was a lot of interest in the DSG and the Vipers before them prior to the pre-reset when all piracy essentially died out. After that, people were too busy trading to fight and the pirates came back and nobody had the balls to challenge them now that they were not filthy rich anymore.

But the demand for a multinational guild was there once. If I get enough of a response for people who want to actually join and be active in the DSG among skilled players, I would be happy to come out of resignation and restart the guild.
Mar 10, 2004 Pyroman_Ace link
Magus, perhaps you and I should discuss the views of our guilds to determine whether a SDF/DSG alliance against piracy maybe possible. We held a very strong alliance to destroy the SM after the Breakaway and succeeded with great results.

If anyone is interested in a multinational force. Please post here. I would be willing to form a "coucil" to command the force. A representative (probably the CO of each guild involved) from each guild coudl be placed on it and executive desicsions made that way. Savvy?

The DSG is on hiatus until further notice. If you are interested in joining, PM me or Hitania online. DS8 and DS13 (or VIII or XIII) are the ONLY Defense Ships that should be online BTW.

Elites? Haven't they left already? To go play games with better community. Just face it, untill this game gets a reputation system nothing is going to change. Greifers are still going to be >50% of this game.

Elites haven't left...

I'm here, Phoenix is here, Starfreeze is here, Furball is here.... *forgets who else was here in 2.4*

I was 'ere in 2.4. Well, perhaps the early 2.5's, but heh.
That said, I barely played... Dial-Up.

Some might remember me as "Grim", or "Battol". Can't remember which I used at the time. I might even have used a different char. Huh.

Mar 13, 2004 SirCamps link
That's weird, I distinctly remember Grim Battol being a newbie in 3.1... :-\
Mar 13, 2004 lunitary link

It wasn't public until 2.6 I thought...?
Mar 13, 2004 furball link
I actually came in around early 3.0 days as I recall... either 3.0 or 3.1. I forget which. I do remember the rocket fixes. And the OLD worm holes. :) (IE I came in when we had 9 sectors.)
