BCM - Brothers of Common Motive.
Official Policies.

1. We will attack or defend others from Griefers where possible. We Despise Grifers.

2. We will attack Pirates if help is requested. Our view is simply this, Pirates make their living off of the cargo of others. It is annoying , but is a semi legitimate job. If they fall under the Griefer Area, We will automatically default to Policy 1.

3. We accept all nations into our guild. This way we can govern our Guild internally and set and apply discipline for our guild members.

4. As a multinational Guild, We are Friendly to:
The SDF (Serco Defense Force) Guild
All traders
People declaring themselves Non-Hostile
Newbies, Noob's, etc...
Any one asking for assistance.

5. We have a full Alliance with:
The SM (Space Monkey) Guild

6. If you feel that a member of our guild has wronged you in any way, please let myself BCM-Steelio or -BCM- jsay know and we will figure out punishment and compensation.

7. If you are new and need help with learning how to Fly, or use space stations, or just need a little cash to start yourself, we will give our assistance where possible

You may not like Policy 2, but it stands. We Don't like pirates either, but they are not nearly as annoying as griefers who give you no end to your frustration and dying. Also, It's your own fault if you die multiple times by a pirate if you keep loading yourself up and going back to the same sector where there is a known pirate. All that said, If you are being attacked by a pirate and need help, give us a call and we'll come running.

Last I checked, the Space Monkey guild was no longer in existence. It has morphed into the Space Mafia guild.

The potential problem with SDF is such: They defend any Serco pilot. That means, if a Serco pilot picks a fight, and starts getting his ass handed to him, and an SDF warps in and sees this, he will aid his Serco brethren (all well and good). However, if this Serco pilot is a griefer/pirate, the SDF may not be aware of this and contribute to the spread in piracy. I have yet to see a suitable policy preventing this, so allying with the SDF allies you with the entire Serco Nation, and possibly the many griefers and pirates in it.

This is an incorrect assumption, although due to circumstances beyond our control the above results may have occured a time or two before we were able to redesign out policies to attempt to minimize the risk of that happening.

Our revamped policy as stated on our Rules of Engagement is (and oddly enough the posts are out of order on the new page, they appear here in the order they are SUPPOSED to be in)

10) SDF craft, unless directly requested to render aid ("SOMEONE HELP!" or "I need help" requests also count) should remain neutral unless directly fired upon. If an SDF witnesses a direct Pirate or Greifer threat than that pilot may use their personnal judgement on an engagement decision.
(Direct griefer/pirate activity is hereby defined as the INITIAL firing of shots on another craft with no discernable provocation)

9) Anyone requesting SDF assistance who is later determined to have initiated the conflict the SDF was requested to report to, will be ignored in the future unless proof can be given BEFORE SDF intervention that they were not the initiating party.

11) All SDF craft firing at request of another pilot on a Player, must, after the engagement is over ID themeselves and their engagement reason to the Player(s) involved.

Obviously our policies are not perfect, however we are continuing to update and revise them in an attempt to limit the number of incidents of a mistaken engagement to the lowest possible amount.
