The New SM

Okay, before I get flamed, I just wanted to post my opinion on the SM Guild. First of all, I joined the Guild because of what I viewed as a pro noob attitude. Myself being relatively new, I thought this was a kind gesture on the part of 01 and Serotonin. I know they have done some things to offend others, and vice versa. First and foremost this is "Role" playing. Please let bygones be bygones and move on. The current members of the SM guild simply wish to trade and train Noob's. We have no specific "vendetta" against any guild or nation. We wish to help ALL Noob's. If you want any info on the Guild or wish to join please email me at SM_Guild2@hotmail.com, or get in touch with Flea or myself ingame. -SM- Flea is the new leader of our guild.

Fair warning SMs, this isn't meant as a threat either, but the SDF will respond harshely to any SMs acting out. You may already know that the original SM founders are a breakaway remanant of the SDF.

Now, as I do always to new guilds, I ask for a peaceful alliance to avoid unplesantness. The conditions follow:

1) No pirating or greifing. If caught, the SMs may face SEVERE SDF incursions and possible increased collateral damage
2) Known n00bs aren't to be hunted down actively, no "newb hunting" either. Unintentional killing is allowed as a mistake. Actively hunting will bring down the SDF fleet.
3) Extreme hostilities between the SDF and the SMs cease, no greifing each other, killing each other is fine just don't hunt each other. I shall in turn, tell the SDF (should this treaty be ratified) to hold fire on your SM craft as well. Serotonin, 01 and IMpartial aren't protected by this treaty.

You may, of course, make your own requests of the SDF and the above terms are negotiable to a degree. If you wish to not accept, no hard feelings and the SDF will offer support and advise as you work to rebuild, we ourselves have been there before too.

Pyro, he stated his guild's intentions right there in the first post and all of them are complete anti-theses to what you put down. For the love of God drop this holier-than-thou crap. If you SDF's so much as lay a finger on these SMs while they're training noobs you will have to face the wrath of Freyr.
The factionalism of the SDF is becoming ridiculous. Your proposals strike me as little more than a street gang using stilted language and lofty platitudes to further your ends.
And don't give us this "We protect traders," rhetoric. I have seen my fair share of SDFs needlessly PKing and pirating. Reign your thugs in or risk losing any legitimacy you think you may have.

I normally keep out of these things, but can we give the remaining -SM- a break? How is the community to improve if we keep dragging people back down and never letting them move on? I've been around since 2.4* and have seen many of our "elder statesmen" -type vets do some pretty lousy things (no examples please).

I've been watching, and the -SM- have been cool as of late. I've observed Doran in particular to be quite decent. Move on!

Pyro,

No hard feelings, but the conditions you put forth are pretty much what i've already stated. We do not intend to Grief anyone, period. We will be training Noob's, not hunting them. We are not really looking for a treaty, just an understanding that we don't wish to be hunted for no reason. If you wish to be at peace with us, don't open fire. We will not be starting any pointless battles. I thank you for your offer of support and advise, and I do hope to have a productive relationship with the SDF and the other Guilds in Vendetta.

BTW,

Thanks Moderator for your kind words.

Hmm, this doesn't mean I'll stop aborting a duel to whack a valk-running "trying to pirate" SM though ;)

Magus, really I suspected better than that of you! Considering the SDF has bailed you, yourself, out of sticky situations at least twice.
As for the other SDFs, I'm trying but I can't micromanage the entire unit. I stand by my call for the Squad leaders and othres to follow the SDF chain of command and make sure that everything is kept intact and under control.
As for our "holier than thou" attitude, we in some ways are holier than thou. We try to not pirate or PK needlessly (I admit some pilots do get out of hand and we deal with them as we can) granted, mistakes and collateral damage occur but not by intentional targeting. An SDF Sunflare goes wayward and destroys a Centaur moving to dock. Was that a direct attack, NO WAY! it was simply collateral damage from a battle.

As for an SM treaty, no hard feelings and I understand that my terms were the same, I merely wanted to reiterate (for my understanding more than yours) of what we can expect from one another. I will tell the SDF to not fire on SMs unless a direct threat or reasonable doubt is presented by the SM first. I'm sure they'll be happy to hear that a state of peace with the SMs may yet occur.

PS: Thank you FM for pointing that out, keeps us level. (BTW, whats with the "*" by the 2.4, are you implying something?)

Thanks. The asterisk is used as a "wildcard", implying that I am absent-minded and don't actually recall what version I joined during.

Own3d made his own decision. It's just unfortunate that he happend to be sporting -SM- colors at the time of the incident. No reason for you to be sorry. I applaud your efforts to resurect the -SM- guild as functional members of the community and not a band of Quake 3 clannish wannabes.

In answer to your querry, no reason or warning was given either in global or sector chat. Maybe to Experiment in PM but nothing to me. Experiment and I were engaging the Frigate along with Pirogoeth I believe. I was at the nose, Experiment at the tail while Pirogoeth and Ow3d were floating around. I saw the notification that Own3d had destroyed Experiment, and looked up to find him flying over my head towards my tail. I pivoted to assertain his course (though it was pretty obvious to me what that course would be) and found him getting into attack position. He then proceeded to open fire on me. No word was forth coming. He was dispatched after a short skirmish.

I am not complaining about this as I understand that is a part of the game. I was just informing you, as a courtesy, of his behaviour and my desire to rectify that situation. I give you my word of honor that I will not be targeting other members of the -SM- guild unless I am first attacked by them. I've been around long enough that someone here might be willing to vouch for me.

If you can assure me that he will not backstab again, I will relent. Fair enough?

Flea,

Email me at sm_guild2@hotmail.com. We have people interested in joining and I need to discuss this with you.

While I do offer my best regards to the new and improved -SM- Guild, be aware that Own3d is now on my KoS list for attacking and destroying Experiment (whatever-his-name-is) and *TRYING* to attack myself unprovoked while we were all otherwise engaged with the Frigate. You might want to have a little talk with him. Perhaps he's learned that not all Prom pilots are pushovers for Vultures. ^.^

Just to note on Pyroman's "holier than thou" comment. I created a newbie gold char and flew it to 9 to withdraw money and had the bus promptly killed by [SDF] Black 1.

Paedric,

I'm sorry for Own3d's actions, either Flea or myself will speak to him. We are still trying to reorganize. Did he give a reason for attacking experiment?

I will do my best to rectify the situation. As soon as I am able to contact the other guild members I will remind them of the no attack policy in sector 16.

That Bus was "collateral damage" resulting from a previously occuring battle YOU foolishly flew into the middle of with no prior warning or any attempt on your part to avoid the situation.

To whom are you addressing your comments Ravenous9ak? I've searched the thread and no-one besides you has mentioned a bus. Please be more specifice so that the party being addressed might have a chance at rebuttle.

SirCamps addressed my destroying a bus during a battle and I wished to clarify that the destruction wasn't intentional.
