Has anyone tried organizing the largest PVP battle on VO? like just choose a system, give a date, invite hundreds of players to battle it out till last man standing... make that person the King of Combat or something...Ill even donate 1m Cr for the event...
Historically Nation war was large.
You should run this king of combat event yourself. Advertise the bleep out of it ingame, here and discord. Just to be clear, are you saying this would be a free for all?

Yes a free for all, someone from Dev can monitor it and prohibit jumping back into the given sector after they get killed, player with the most kills wins. or last man standing
As far as recorded events, I think Nation War 400 currently holds the record for most participants.

Imagining all those legends online together during the 100th nation war is quite something. Hard to believe!
the 100th deneb run was pretty big, probably a couple dozen participants as well.
Quite a few of the nation wars had 40+ people show up I can't remember which one was the biggest but I don't think it was the 100th.
t'was definitely one of the larger ones, The largest one escapes me I think it was in the hundreds though maybe 155 or something, bah I have no idea I'll have to see if my google-fu is still half decent to try and elucidate this mystery.
Also I'll announce that I'll maybe host one sometime this month (With at least a weeks notice this time - It won't be out of the blue for once!), keep yer eyes peeled boyos. Credit donations are appreciated any donated funds and/or goodies will go towards the event if I end up not hosting it they'll be returned in a timely manner, I've got some spare hive posis/qgats to hand out but other stuff would definitely be appreciated.
Thinkin' about doing it with 1 goli per team (neut/gauss/swarm/firefly will be permitted on the turrets but caprails/capgauss shenanigans are out of the question and if someone dares bring one your team will be disqualified and other participants will get extra goodies for taking you out ^.^ ), grey will probably be included.
If anyone plans on crashin' the event; know that as soon as you do the event will be cancelled and I will actively encourage everyone in the sector to shoot at you (The goodies will be split as evenly as possible across all rule abiding participants). Please play nice'n'clean until the event is complete, there may even be participation prizes!

Holy crap I can't believe I forgot about PA.
I wasn't there for the Itan vs all war, but I was there for the FAMY vs ONE/Itan/TGFT and then the Itan + TGFT vs RED/ONE wars.

"We need more things to war with". Agreed! Things are just so slow and with that comes the monopolization of nationalism on the sides. ONE and ITAN are great examples. Combined with just how hard it is to start a guild up just to have it bashed down in a month or two REBL is a great example. Once the dynamic changes and there's just more reasons to fight against sercos,Itans or everyone in VO I think it will look beautiful.

I remember 30+ player battles outside of Nation War as well. The good old days when people played this game :(

maybe not up to 30 yet, but TeamDX has consistently been between 10 to 15 pilots lately. I bet we could get up past 20 if we (the community we) really pushed for it - I see the faces online, after all, of people who actually engage in combat. And that's for a rewardless event.
Well Luxen, like it or not, but not every PVPer likes group combat - or at least likes some reason other than events to take a part, like nationalism drove a lot of the bigger nation wars. There is nothing at all to hook me to TeamDX, and in fact that event brings the game back to the SpaceQuake that so many would like to avoid. Apart from some useless credits and a useless drop, what does your fight offer for the die-hard pirate? All I see it offering is half hour or so of clear skies for traders - not on my watch.
Without a war there is no reason to fight. The fact that PVPers are online but not showing for your event would surely say there is a problem with the event for those people? Maybe try find out what that problem is and address it?

Luxen has put a tremendous amount of thought and his own time into TeamDx. He's running an event he likes for the pleasure of doing it. There is no problem with Luxen's events at all.
Others can conceive of and support events they would enjoy. I would be happy to volunteer my time to support such events if they fall within my availability:

Oh I'm not implying there is a problem with the event Whistler, but the call for PVPers to attend is kind of saying they are not showing for some reason (this is the problem). I am not being lazy by not attending, nor am I scared of losing, but I do like an RP angle rather than just "go fight cos prizes innit!".
For me personally there is zero reason to attend, as all it offers is either some ego stroking, or bashing, in regards to how the event goes with no follow on. At least with nation war I could take the result to a follow up RP conflict or whatever. TeamDX is cool, and Luxen is a top dude for putting up with that stuff and even for trying in the first place, but seeing him say things like "why don't pvpers attend when I know they are online" or berating people for playing the game and not showing up via discord (berating is probably the wrong word, but I can think of no better word); just because the event is on may indicate a bigger problem for attendance. I'm not just a "pvper", I like the RP aspect VO can offer and like that to be tied into events I join.
