NEW EVENT: DUEL WARS
[TRI] is officially announcing a new event that we've been working on. It is called "Duel Wars" and just from the name I'd imagine everyone can guess what it is. But basically, we will use the dueling system as a basis to define a set of rules. Based on these rules we will give out prizes for achieving certain accomplishments. Now for the rules.
1) Participants must sign up on the announcement thread before the commencement of the event. After a period of allowing participants to sign up, we will begin the event. Once the event begins, pilots not already signed up will not be considered for prizes. Entry is free of cost.
2) The event will take place over a single week or two weeks. The duration of the event will be determined and stated at the beginning of the entry process.
3) Participants must average at least 2 duels a day over the course of the event. Any participant that does not meet this threshold will not be considered for prizes.
4) The reward for each prize will be determined and announced at the start of the event. Prizes will be given out for the following accomplishments:
- Highest score
- Most wins
- Largest score increase
- Most matches
- Largest score decrease
- Most losses
- The grand prize will be given to the participant with the most wins in duels against other participants. This means only participant-on-participant duels will be counted for this.
5) ALL RULES ARE SUBJECT TO [TRI]’S DISGRESSION ALONE! We will take into consideration anyone’s suggestions or concerns when it comes to the rules, but ultimately we will always make the final decision. This means that if there is even the slightest bit of a doubt that someone is trying to skirt the rules in any way, shape, or form they will not be considered for prizes. We will not be subject to producing hard evidence or proof to back our decisions. This event will be about earning your way. An effective way to keep from looking suspicious is to not do suspicious things. And remember, you’re not cool just because you have a high duel score. You’re cool if you rightfully earned a high duel score.
I think these rules will do for now. If I see people trying to abuse these rules then more may be added, or the current rules may be overhauled entirely. At the end of the day, this event is to encourage friendly pvp. It is the best part of the game and unfortunately it is a dying aspect. So please, I ask everyone to join us in helping make this new event one of the long-lasting and well-celebrated events in VO.

Yay! I am cool by TRI's definition!
Question: Can a single participant win more than one prize?

splenetic signeds upps on lasts threadeds!
This isn't a sign up thread. Maybe delete your comment, then I'll delete mine? :]
After some deliberation on this, we have decided that a single pilot can win more than one prize. Preventing this would create the issue of choosing who gets what prizes.
But to prevent a "cleaning house" sort of effect, we will put some limitations on how often you can win a prize. This may seem unfair to high level pilots, but I assure you that I intend to only do this sort of thing if it becomes ABSOLUTELY necessary. I don't want to discourage skill in this competition in anyway, but I also want to make appealing to everyone.
And to this end, we are currently in the process of developing a voucher participation system. Some details still have to be worked out, but basically the idea is that you receive vouchers for participating, which you can then use to pay for [TRI] services. I'll post more details as they get hashed out, and I welcome anyone to comment with additional ideas for adding into this event.

A note, since Nihilus didnt mention it yet, but Karma and Tri vouchers arent the same thing, since karma is more for logistics (though it needs a little more work before its fully finished in that regard) with minor rewards, where tri vouchers are entirely for rewards. P.S. all major events give karma, including this one.
Are pilots lower than combat 4 allowed to participate?
Because the duel rating doesnt track them, its impossible for them to do so.
Then Darth must mention it in his post.
Nihilus most likely forgot that such a rule exists, more like.
