Pirate's Code of Ethics
I think it is time to create a code for pirates, the idea of this game is to test, not to keep people off of it, and piracy causes many n00bs to throw their hands up in disgust and never play the game again. Piracy itself can be eliminated too, as pirates are often taken down after many people come together to stop their lunacy. So for the protection of both piracy and the n00bs I propose a code of ethics be drafted so that piracy can continue unchallenged, and n00b traders can continue to trade, earn money, and become pirates on their own someday!
This code would mean that as long as a pirate follows these rules, they can be allowed to pirate, but if they break any of the codes, it will be met with swift justice:
1)Piracy of Buses is not allowed, it shouldn't hurt to be a n00b
2)Pirating a character more than once is not allowed
3)Pirates must stay in one sector, and declare that as their sector for piracy purposes.
4)Pirates can chose one sector to plunder per day.
5)If a cargo vessel jettisons for a pirate, the pirate cannot destroy the vessel.
6)If the pirate only gets X amount of cargo from the trader, and the trader grabs the rest and escapes while the pirate is dropping off the cargo, the pirate cannot hunt them down and kill them in another sector.(See 3 and 4, if a pirate changes sectors, then piracy becomes a hostile act of the entire nation, not just the acts of a few individuals)
7)If a trader loses both ship and cargo, deal with it and move on. You can seek retribution by trying to kill the pirate, but chances are you will not get your money or your ship back, try to accept that fact.
Punishment should be taken out by either the hurt trader or a policing force of some kind. These policing forces or traders, if and when they encounter the pirate, and force him to retreat or kill him, they cannot continue persecuting that pirate outside of the sector that was declared his domain, unless the pirate starts plundering another sector. If the pirate comes back to "his" sector then the police force can still attack him.
As long as a pirate follows the code, they should not be persecuted, they've found a way to survive the game world, so let them be.
Icarus and Phoenix will never agree to it...but if I decide to get into piracy...I will follow this code.
Please add what you feel might help this code so that piracy and trading can live in harmony and people wont get all pissed off and leave the game.

Like I said, a police force or the begrudged trader will carry out punishment, I wont be carrying out punishment, since I am not a member of a police force.
