Ok, so call me crazy, but I am pretty sure there is a hidden s8 sector. Well, don't call me crazy until you see my evidence for it.
1) EVERY other sector has a station. 10 has a hidden station, and all the others, even the secret sectors, have stations.
2) Sector 9 sells widgets "Primarily MANUFACTURED in sector 8"! Now I haven't been around for long, so I don't know if this is just a left over from previous versions, but that sure seems like compelling evidence for there being a place where those widgets are manufactured.
Well, 2 is the only really good evidence I have, and someone should really tell me if it's a left over.
/me goes looking for likely spots to hide a station in s8....

For the nth time. There is NO sector 8 station.

Yeah, blaster got in it once, but that was because of a major bug, there is no reproducable way to get into the sector 8 station "screen".

silentsuicide and Archon are correct. There is not now, nor has there ever been, a physical station in Sector 8. As mentioned, there was an obscure bug that allowed a user to enter a Sector 8 station interface under highly unlikely conditions. A Sector 8 station interface was created at the same time as all of the other Sector Station interfaces and simply hadn't been removed. I believe that the Sector 8 widgets are xithricite, which is a product of mining ore from asteroids (no, there is no in-game way to do this yet). Ore that is mined from Sector 8 could be considered to be "manufactured" there.

Of course the devs could pop one in at any given update without telling anyone about it...

No need to be sorry, it's a good question. I was just trying to give the whole story so that certain users (glares) won't have an opportunity to confuse the issue.
