A message to [ORE]

Hi ORE. I just have a minor complaint about one of your members. You see, I like ORE. You guys have a reputation for not trying to pull the sort of moronic crap that TGFT attempt. You're courteous. As a result, I and other pirates tend to cut you guys more slack and not be quite as trigger-happy as we might get around others, since we can be sure that an ORE will either fight us, pay us, run, or negotiate. We don't have to worry about underhanded moves, and therefor we can afford to play nice and not interpret any suspicious action or delay as a threat.

A certain new member of yours (well, I assume he's new - first I've seen him anyway) is tarnishing that reputation. He pulled the "I'll just logout while he thinks I'm trying to figure out how to pay, lol" maneuver. If I can no longer trust that members of ORE will be honest and straightforward, I will have to start treating you more harshly as I do with most other prey. Spam-hailing to prevent logouts, killing if you turn to face me, firing warning shots if it takes too long, killing if any random player who might try to interfere arrives in the sector, etc.

Heck, lately I haven't even really been asking most people for payment at all unless they're very low level. I've just been killing them immediately. But when I saw that this guy was ORE, I figured, "well, ORE are decent folk, so I'll give him an option". Well, that guy isn't getting options anymore. He's now on my personal kill-with-no-hail list until he takes action of his own to correct that.

Here's hoping that this was just an anomaly, rather than the new face of ORE.

True story, Axiom is the only smurf in the whole verse I don't ruthlessly murder in cold blood on sight. There have been incidents, but generally he gets past.

I dunno, you don't ruthlessly attempt to murder me in cold blood on sight.

Or, at least, it's been awhile...

You might even say this is a miner complaint!

Rin, I think this is corrected now. I observed what I assume was the ore you mention in another questionable activity and when it was pointed out that it might break neutrality for ore, he was very apologetic, and hadn't considered it from our perspective.

Sorry I haven't been on much this last few weeks to guide newer members in the ways being cool with pirates, reavers, zealot nationalists, and pup. I could go on about why i'm not ingame much, but it is too big a dose of RL to darken your collective escapist fantasies of space conquest.

As for ORE policy on coercive players, it has always been left up to each pilot how they plan to deal with pirates, but I always warn of the paths that lead to the no-payment option. I personally started out paying the polite and/or charismatic swashbucklers who role-played the encounter with panache, while immediately hunting down the impolite or trigger happy thugs who boomed my moth before I could type a reply. yodaofborg was my fist PK: killed his X-1 with a triflare Taur... good times.

There is no new face of ORE policy-wize, just a handful of new members who have been a bit leaderless. I despise logging to avoid an encounter. Better to die and seek revenge.
