what if we used the existing facilities in the beggining when no one had money to lay the paths? We could host the races at the race tracks until we can afford to make paths of our own. Just my thought, however, I wouldbe interested in bus racing one way or the other:)

Today, Deftochino and I used pieces of cargo to plot out a path for a race through the corridors of sector 9. It was really fun, and surprisingly effective. Afterwards, I came up with an even better racetrack. As a result of this test, I have decided to found the Vendetta Bus Racing league (VBRL). The first stock-bus race will take place in a soon to be determined time after the reset. The VBRL has several positons to fill.

1.) Enforcers to prevent violence during races and keep people from stealing cargo.

2.) Referees to monitor various parts of the raceway for shortcuts or cheaters.

3.) Pathers to lay down the cargo modules for the race.

And most importantly, investors. After a reset, such an endeavor would be too great a financial burden for one trader to handle alone. So, the money for the event will need to come from investors. Entrants will need to pay a fee (not yet determined) and will compete for a cash prize. (Amount of prize not yet determined.)

Well, investment won't be easy to find without advertising options.

This sounds like a good idea. But are there really enough people who would want to do it?

There are plenty of people that would want to do it. The only problem is coming up with a viable billing system to get profit and a method to keep out the greifers. Fighting the Greifers will take up a significant amount of cash.

I layed out a path through the nooks and crannies of the modular station using cargo. (I was really bored.) Later on we may use mines to define the path. It makes for a much more exiting race to maneuver through tight corridors and make hairpin spiraling turns than just holding tab until you reach a certain point in open space. Busses need only follow that path. If the devs gave us the ability to set nav. points and pathing lines it would be even easier. But the S9 station isn't perfectly suited for it. It needs to be still bigger to make for longer races. But it will do for now.

so when is the next race? I think it would be great to race in, but I also like the thought of enforcing the race in my Rag. Whatever, I guess I'm up for anything but funding. AH CRAP! I FORGOT THAT THERE WAS A RESET! NO MORE RAG! boohoohoo! :-( I'll still enforce though just as soon as I get the cash.

Next race won't happen until after the reset when griefers will actually have to worry about dying.

-I'm sure they would happily do it. But the fact is, right now everyone has too much money. The best the DSG can do is kill them but since nobody has a fear of death anymore, that is hardly a deterrent and won't stop them from being a disturbance.

This seems only a short term remedy to this problem. Won't it just keep happening as soon as everybody has money again.

Maybe. It's worth a shot though. Someday we'll have a reputation system in place and all the tomfoolery will diminish a bit.

Post if you put together another race before the reset. After I'll be too busy trading and boting to race.

Also, it might be cool if part of the course involved a straight. Maybe out and around the the billboard or something and back to the station?
