Don't know if I'm coming down with some sort of psychological space sickness or what but I'm starting to have incredibly lucid dreams about mining dirty great hunks of space rock. Seriously! Woke up in a cold sweat last night thinking I'd mistakenly jettisoned my secret stash of Glengoyne malt whisky instead of that junk bit of ferric I'd picked up. Aaaaaaah!

Notes - Visited each, apparently, empty sector in the system of Azek earlier. Its amazing what you can stumble across in the hauntingly beautiful depths of deep space. OK... most sectors were completely bloody empty but hay, if you don't look... right? And I have to say, some of the asteroid fields are exquisite, either that or I'm starting to loose it (see previous). Although the odd sector can hold the occasional hidden danger. Which would be fine if your in a fighter but maybe not so good when your running around trying to take asteroid particulars in a beat-up old Rev. It's a definite case of run away. Quickly!

Ping ping ping went the rounds from the pilots training blaster as they bounced off my hull. Jeez I thought, some rookie straight out of training. The joys. hehe. As I was unarmed I made a quick exit through a worm hole and when I eventually docked the repair was only 3c. Bargain.

Stingrays are underrated in my opinion. They're pretty useless in PVP, but they can be effective in low level PVE. They have more total damage per tube than even chaos swarms, and 15 m/s more velocity. Their biggest drawback is the lack of a proximity fuse, which makes actually hitting anything more difficult. Swarms also have more spread, which helps them to hit things. But if you take the time to aim the stingray, you can fairly reliably hit bots.
I still prefer using heavy energy weapons anyway, but my point is the stingray isn't as bad as most people will tell you.

Yes, the stingray is quite an effective weapon against low level bots when you get the hang of how and when to fire it. I also tried flying at stationary target's using turbo and launching about four missiles at roughly the same time which was a lot of fun and gave good results.
Was well pissed off with the yellow jacket as its range is quite poor and it flies like a pregnant bus. The gemini's were better than the yellow jacket's and I'll probably do more testing with them. Overall I need to do more heavy weapons practice as I've let that license slid a bit. Although there's nothing quite like the thrill of a good old fashioned dog fight with guns.
Can't wait to get my dannys on some of the more advanced weaponry.

Notes - Was escorting a moth to Sedina K-13 when we got bumped by a notorious pirate. The moth managed to get away and I engaged the pirate but unfortunately I didn't last long and was vaporised into a bright red mist within minutes.

Notes - I have a lot to learn and take my hat off to my skilled opponent who made it look easy. During this impromptu mentoring fight he gave me a few good tips which were very helpful. We started off with me just trying to hit him as he dodged and manoeuvred to avoid my incoming rounds. Everything just seemed to happen so damn fast, my heart was racing and the adrenalin pumping as I tried to slot his hound.
PvP is much more difficult than I can explain in words, but at the exact same time it's just the most fun and exciting time I've ever had from combat. I'd shoot one way but he'd quickly move out of the way, and again I'd fire some well aimed bursts but only ever landing the occasional lucky shot.
Fighting against a real opponent is just SO much better than anything I've done previously or anything I could have imagined, PvP fucking rocks and then some !!! THANKYOU Pilot!

Went back in an EC89. Got a good view of the remaining fight and near the end watched as a crippled trident made a jump out of the sector and away from danger. Don't know if the pursuing ships followed or not.
