Thanks, Ray. It was fun, even though I had no idea what I was doing. Heh.

Yeah, it was just a little confusing.
I liked how all the bots made a beeline for the player tridents, and the players went after those, leaving the NPC trident floating in empty unguarded and unhostile space so that I could capture hostages safely. That was very considerate of them. :)
I think maybe there should have been a way to reward the people who were doing combat against the bots as well as the rewards for the rescuers/hostage-takers.
Also, doing this in an asteroid field would probably have been a better idea, because once we undocked from the trident we could just immediately warp out. That means that there was very little opportunity for anybody to shoot me down and rescue the hostages, unless they wanted to risk their faction standings by shooting me as I delivered them to the station.
For that matter, I was delivering my "hostages" to the same locations that the rescuers were. Maybe there should have been a Corvus capital ship in another sector for the pirates to be delivering the hostages to. (Unaligned would be better, but then it would shoot everybody automatically, I think, unless you did magic dev stuff to make its turrets ignore registered pirate participants.)
Anyway, it was good fun and I enjoyed it. TheRedSpy helped deliver ten of the hostages credited to me (which I think were the ones that Nahin or Growlor dropped when I killed them, not sure), so I'm going to give him a proportionate piece of my prize money.

Great event, very surprising and well thought... and VERY FUN!
Really, we should adopt that Idea I proposed in Minerwars events, and make opposing factions on events also, like Pizza/Rin says, rats wanted to take hostages, not save people...
This event was so fun that we could have a few more, no longer surprise rules, but scheduled multiplayer missions, one to rescue/defend damaged ship, another to attack said ship... and add the hive to confusion, few bots, or a full queen court entered sector and caused the situation.
To said event, rescues should go to station X, Y and hostages taken to station Z, or another cappie parked nearby, grouped with rat party.

lol yeah Interstellar was total botbait there for a while. Every single hog in the sector was just following him creepily like the non-shooty teradons do to connies in Deneb.
I'm running a variation of the same event on Sunday afternoon (well, afternoon for me).
So you can be prepared this time.

I only regret that I was unable to pirate ray while he was carrying this second event's trophies.
