Corporate Sectors Run 6
6th Reborn Corporate Sectors Run Race Report
Amazingly enough, despite the many assassins lurking in VO space today, and the presence of varied weapon loads on most race ships, not one racer was eliminated. All pilots chose the speedy Corvus Greyhound.
Racers (in order of invitation):
Sagrath of the Serco Guild SAS
Ineubis Raven Blasters/MegaPositron Blaster/FC Batt.
Silirrion Protagonist
Ultra Charge Batt. with no weapons
Odysseus Valour of Viper
Sunflare rockets/Mega Positron Blaster/FC Batt.
Mr. Chaos (his name says it all, but still a sportsman)
Hive Positron Blaster/MegaPositron Blaster/FC Batt.
The Race
Mr. Chaos got the jump on his fellow racers and led wire to wire. As he put it, the key to winning VO races is "avoiding ion storms." Chaos had a fine finish time, despite the added weight of weapons, but Sil. P. almost caught up to him, docking some forty seconds later at the Corvus Capitol. If Sil had gone with a Fast Charge battery and saved some time at the wormholes, who knows? Sagrath was right behind Sil, but Odysseus, like his namesake, spent some time with the Sirens of Dau instead of returning home at all full speed.
Race Results:
Mr. Chaos 14:56 1st place (1 million cr)
Silirrion Protagonist 15:37 2nd place (600000 cr)
Sagrath 15:58 3rd place (400000 cr)
Odysseus Valour 22:23 4th place
(Valour was given 400K cr as compensation for a starting gun error that damaged his Greyhound by 44%)
Security at Corvus Capitol provided by Ecka Estenk, Commander of TGFT.
Sponsored by Cranston Gorky and TGFT

Ok 2 things.
1. If I'm racing can I kill my fellow racers?
2. If TGFT is sponsoring prizes should be x10 the current amount.

1. Racers may kill fellow racers. Thus, it is ostensibly possible for one racer to win the full 2 million in credits.
2. The prizes are in line with prior Corporate Sector Runs. If the race is popular, perhaps the prize money will increase, commensurate with the additional ad revenue generated by a popular event.
Increasing prize payout may be possible by running a "book" on the racers, or the pirates, but someone else will have to offer that option. Someone did this for the Deneb Run in the past. (I think my odds were typically 7 to 1. Mick was 1.5 to 1, or something like that.)

1. cool
2. fail
2. fail
TGFT didn't get to the top of the credit heap by not being cheap bastards.
Ok, I'll just say this.. 2 mil payout sucks. I remember the csr paying out 20 mil. And quite truefully I can make that 2 mil payout in a hour. Cheap ass. there ya go.
Why people expect a person running an event to sponsor a huge payout I don't get. If you want a bigger payout, why not have each participant put in a quarter mil (or some such), with the proceeds going to the winner?
tone clarification: I'm not being combative here. I just honestly don't really understand it. It'd probably be even more fun to engage in an activity where you had some of your own cash on the line.

Err, since when is hosting events about generating revenue?
If you draw enough people then great but if not you might consider raising the prizes a bit.

Since TGFT had anything to do with it, would be my guess.

Eh, I don't think Ecka made any money hosting NW.
The comment on "ad revenue" was meant in the sense of RP, to which this forum is dedicated.
And the intention is to collect people interested in racing and give them the opportunity to do the same. Racing in both RP and the RL has never really been about making credits, since very few end up making a lot of those anyway, but about seeing who gets from point A to point B the fastest and getting to brag about it.
