Sercs to hit Deneb northern turrets March 1-2
Well I am kinda new but it seems like there is not enough goal-oriented conflict between factions. So I will just make a PVP mission and set victory conditions. I hope some of you will come out to play.
Sometime on the night of March 1-2nd, 2010...intelligence reports indicate there will be a Serco strike against sector turrets in Deneb.
The turrets at C4, D3, D4 and J5 are expected to be targets. At least three of the four are reported at 100 percent as of the morning of March 1.
Sercs' mission is to kill all four turrets by 2:00 a.m. eastern time March 2.
Itani pilots: Your mission is to ensure that at least one of these turrets survives and is functioning until at least 2 a.m. Eastern Time, March 2. It must have a hull strength of at least 1 percent at that time. All turrets with a hull strength under 1 percent will be counted as dead.
Will you be able to kill the Sercs faster than they kill the turrets? Will intercepting them at the wormhole work best or maybe repairing the turrets? Or would a mobile defense slow the invaders down by hitting them on their attack runs?
Whatever the tactics...the results will appear on this thread if they can be verified.
See you out there.....

I assume one problem with this idea is that it may be hard to verify who won...for now I guess you will just have to trust my word, as I plan to go back and do a damage assessment right at 2 a.m.
Maybe in the future we can have indie referees of some kind for stuff like this, or maybe we already do and I'm just not finding the events. For now you're stuck with me but I've tried to make the mission hard enough that we Sercs are unlikely to pull it off. Any determined resistance and we should fail.

OK this is a little embarrassing but I guess I made the mission too easy. We killed the last of the four turrets around 1:15 a.m. despite effective resistance at first. The tanis got bored I guess and stopped defending.
The tanis seemed to come out ahead on kills however and had their best success guarding the wormhole and using repair modules.
Good news however was that this event triggered hours of fighting after that, in deneb...with at least 6 players participating.

It was a good idea. The timing was off a little for me I was well asleep by then. And taking out the turrets was probably pretty easy to do.
Keep up the work though! It's nice to see something to do pop up!
