VO's Physics revisited

So, a few ideas:

Sounds in space:
What we hear in space and most new pilots consider to be "outside" sounds are indeed internally produced, on their ship.
When a plasma shot passes NEAR you, or when a nearby ship engages their turbo drive are the electromagnetically-induced vibration on your hull. Then, after "shaking" the outer plates, vibration propagates into RadShields and finally vibrates also internal shell, ant that produces the sounds. Sound does not propagate in space!

Inertial drift at turbo speed:
You probably slept on that class explaing engines dynamics. Remember that engaging turbo is like focusing all gravity interaction with the universe on a single direction. That happens gradually, from your rear to your heading. Like closing an umbrella.
When you disengage turbo, that focused gravity needs to return being a sphere around your ship. so while it is expanding like an opening unbrella it will reduce your speed back to whatever it was before you engaged turbo.

You hear sounds in space because it's more awesome that way, for some value of awesome.

You experience drag in space because it's more playable that way, for some value of playable.

If you need any more explanation than that to feel "immersed", you suck at roleplaying.

Kindly go away.

So what your're saying is: Too fast monsters growls on umbrella closet flap where the candies were.

I think you're missing the point, here, Alloh. A common ship's antimatter power cell needs to match a very specific resonance pattern in your thrusters and, since the negative energy plates are incapable of producing such a pattern the thrusters, themselves, need to adjust. Unless a ship is specially modified, it cannot break the non-turbo "speed limit" programmed into it or else the flight regulator will be forced to shift into a higher mode and will cause a positive difference in resonant frequencies from the thrusters to the cell which will cause the ship's tachyon beam(s) to create a curve the space in front of the ship that will essentially "slow" it down. However, this method of slowing the ship can be potentially permanently damaging to its power cell which is why the "speed limit" is installed on most ships' thrust regulators. One could, theoretically, cross the thrust and flight regulator circuits to allow such an action and modify their tachyon beams to resonate the negative energy plates at a higher frequency, but this would also be potentially damaging and it has been questioned whether or not the pilot could operate the thrusters for an extended time period, jump, or even be able to fire his or her weapons. Ships with disabled power cells, however, have been recorded as having reached unlimited speeds when launched into the correct amount of Defense Mines Inc. XXR-L185 Concussive Force Detonation Buoys, but the ships did not properly operate and it was nothing but a novelty.

The "sound in space" effect is an artificial one, part of the TBR-9527X Hologramic HUD. It uses an advanced video capture system to scan for possible "sound makers" and creates artificial sounds for them. It is ill-advised that this function be disengaged as reports of pilots becoming crazy because of such an action are common, not to mention the considerable combat advantage the system can provide.

Once again, Tumble wins thread.

He's getting good at this.

I like this idea, but I think at one point the realism in the game has to surrender to the aspect that it is a computer game.

Nonsensical non sequitur wins threads now? Who woulda' thunk it...

It isn't a non-sequitur, tosh. He invoked the Allohtonian Victory Principle.

Good one, spidey... totally Monty Python!

and Toshiro, they are running some sort of competition, who can be more idiot. And the winner will come out of the closet on a big cerimony!

I wonder if they really believe that they will scare me... probably not, reading past foruns we notice a pattern, who contributes and who spams forum.
