New form of matter discovered, analyzed

Dec 13, 2009 Solra Bizna link
We all remember the recent Great Duping Incident, where a quirk of dimensional intersection created hundreds of thousands of tons of useful materials --- even things as complicated as fully functional weapon systems. The economic ramifications are still being felt.
The Great Duping Incident was accompanied by other strange phenomena, localized to the Sedina system. Xang Xi scientists at Sedina II Orbital observed perfectly spherical areas of space up to 10 megameters in diameter vanishing --- becoming great voids in space --- only to reappear less than a minute later, subtly altered.
A tiny fraction of the matter created in the Incident consisted of a new form of matter, dubbed "mysterium" by its discoverer. Mysterium takes up space, like other forms of matter more familiar to us, but unlike ordinary matter, mysterium does not reflect or absorb light, and has no measurable mass. The scientists quickly discovered that even tiny amounts of mysterium, if not cooled to 42 microkelvins and magnetically contained, quickly destabilized and created a disturbance like those they were seeing all over Sedina.
When the Great Duping Incident ended, only a single cu of mysterium was recovered. This mysterium currently resides in a dedicated TPG Behemoth XC that has been retrofitted with a specialized containment system.

OOC: Is it contagious? Do we have to split up the universe into Red, Blue and Yellow zones?

IC: Have you delivered it to the UoT2 for analysis yet? I'd like to take a look at it, but the guys from the Matter and Materials department are a bit miffed at MedRAR after the joke we played them.

I want to know if Superman loses his powers by being in close proximity to it.

I too have witnessed Mysterium. While trying to capture a sample, I logged what can only be described as a sector-wide space-time rift. Sedina D-14 literally ceased to exist for a short period of time. I did manage to capture a small amount of the stuff, which I fear may ultimately destroy the Station at D-14.

...The fk is a broze trophy?

Impavid: You must build your own Bizna-Pendragon containment vessel and bring the mysterium to a Research station. Above all, do not attempt to transfer the mysterium to another pilot in space.

I think we have discovered dark matter.

Aye, Roid War 4 had 3 custom trophy widgets made for first, second and third place. Shape and Spuck won the first and second place trophies.

Those mysterium occurences are expected to happen in random due the quantum vacuum energy... and tends to happens more often shortly before major changes on nearby wormholes, mainly the unstable ones...

I heard some researches are being made to try to create wormholes with mysterium, and it is indeed related to dark matter. It is also reported that it tends to disappear after sometime, decaying into a heavy neutrino shower...
