I didn't read the rest of the thread, so I'm sure people have pointed it out, but... the Nation War was originally founded by Erik C./Blue Streak, who had nothing to do with TGFT. I (a member of [Itan], and LT or possibly Commander at the time) took over the event when he stopped hosting, and a while later Ecka took over for me. Many many different people have donated to the Nation War in its lifetime, and it is by no means a TGFT event.
The NW is the highlight of the week for some people, and crashing it ruins the experience for them, even though they don't necessarily have any affiliation with TGFT.

I agree with m4c4br3, Dr. Lecter, and genka...

First things first...
"But do not go all out to take on the entire playerbase and the developers all because you can't work out why a trading and mining guild is rich" (Quote by Wyrm)....

First of all, HAWK never said that they were going after TGFT JUST because they were rich and yada yada yada... TGFT needs to get out of this mindset that everyone is jealous of them and after their information/money/crap.. because well.. its not true.

I think HAWK is after PA, TGFT, and VPR because, lets face it, we are the three most active guilds in the gray space region (although ONE is overall more active than VPR but plays in Deneb a lot), a region where HAWK operates. Hmm.. what a coincidence grayspace is also where there is no FF and where piracy takes place...

The face of the matter is in this game it is difficult to find direct targets due to the expanse of the universe and lack of guild stations, guild cappies, etc. Now lets think.. where do PA, TGFT, and VPR ALL hang out? Nation war. Who runs nation war? TGFT. Bingo!

Instead of canceling nation war why doesn't TGFT use the opportunity of having PA/TGFT/VPR, and other detractors of HAWK who are ALL well armed in the same sector to turn it into an anti-HAWK battle should they show up. I'm sure the United Force of the Nation War people could easily outflank the small contingent of HAWK troops.

But instead, people resort to crap like this... complaining on the RP forum and im sure on 100. Instead of crying to the devs, guilds and organizations should militarize, release official responses, and plan on wiping out the threat that exists.

A regular war might be more interesting than an organized one anyways, but I do not condone HAWK's controversial actions.

In short, more action less complaining. Yeah people love the nation war, so people should be eager to defend it with military action..

-Official PA statement in Regards towards HAWK-

PA acknowledges HAWK's threats towards us but we also realize the limited threat they pose due to the three "wars" that they are actively engaged in. Disruption of Nation War is something many PA members feel is unacceptable and have caused us to become increasingly more militant towards HAWK.

However, HAWK currently is similar to that of LoO, PWND, THC, and SYN. A small guild with a small contingent of fighters who ransack gray space. Like all the others, we expect HAWK to eventually lose steam and "fizzle out" although HAWK does have a little potential staying power.

Either way, as always PA will protect its assets in gray space. If HAWK increases its offensive against PA, we will increase our offensive ten-fold against HAWK. However, If military actions against PA decrease, our involvement in this "war" will likely follow suit due to the over abundance of pilots from TGFT and the TGFT subsidized VPR guild who are effectively combating HAWK.

In closing, if you chose to play with fire, you're going to get burned.

Yuuyuu, the Nation War isn't supposed to be an everyone vs HAWK fight. If that's what they're looking for, there are other ways to do it than to crash a party, so to speak.

Slime, why does anyone care what any activity is "supposed to be"? You're in VO? You're fair game. There is no special status granted because a bunch of people say "we're playing our own mini-game now."

Does that make HAWK less annoying? No. Does it mean you shouldn't say they're jerks? Well, I think that's probably feeding the trolls, but knock yerselves out. Should you shoot HAWK on sight until the change their way of doing things? Duh.

Just don't whine about the RoC, the ToS, or any other bullshit allegation that what they're doing is prohibited or against some rule. It isn't.

Dr Lecter, you can go fuck yourself. You do nothing constructive to the VO community and all you do is spew belittle comments which I for one am sick of. On that note you can go shove a cactus up your uretha.

Clearly the best way to handle crap like this is to ban the offending users from the server. In any other MMORPG the people who disrupt events like this would get a size 10 boot up their ass but it's quite clear the immature bickering trolls that plague VO likes crap like this. So aside from the obvious solution of hunting them down and take a baseball bat to their fingers and knee caps the solution would be to come up with something for all events to block abuse like this.

This problem is not a guild war, nor does it have anything to do with TGFT. The problem is someone's mother should have swallowed or ended up as a brown stain on the matress but instead we have peytros to deal with now.

It seems most points have been covered civilly or otherwise. There are better places to berate other people, most notable being not here. Thusly;

We've been in the midst of developing a new Event registration and advertising system for the past couple of weeks (Michael is working on it, in between debugging other issues). It is possible for something like this to be tied to some kind of specialized.. system. Defensive arrangement of turrets with an organizer-submitted blacklist, or even specially locking a sector and requiring invites to go there.

However, like Lecter says, doing so would imply a break in the context of the game.. in the basis of "no safe place" and the general idea that underlies the game (recent criticisms of Newbie sectors notwithstanding). Whether this sort of deviation would be worthwhile is a topic for a Suggestions Forum post, that would hopefully mention prospective solutions, and mostly importantly.. would stay civil, constructive and positive.

Yes, there is also the option of stating for the future that "Approved Events are not to be Disrupted or Harassed", which would then use the normal Abuse reporting mechanisms to send the information to us.. who would then escalate an administrative response as deemed necessary. Cleary, I would rather find a solution that the player-base can maintain independently of administrative action (which takes a lot of time on our part).

So, that's all for now, if you guys have some Event-self-organization / defense ideas that you'd like to post to Suggestions, please do so. Just keep it civil. If the playerbase would prefer to deal with this situation on their own, as Ecka says, I respect that as well.
