The individual at the terminal begins to speak,"Sir! We're receiving an alpha level alert!"
"Yes? What does it say Lt Tolani?", queries the commanding officer, a long-time Serco Ground Forces Commandant.
"Sir! I am still trying to figure that out, the signal is very weak, but it appears to be coming from one of our ground assault forces!"
"What!? You must be mistaken, the SGF has no known ongoing campaigns in or around Itani space. Clean up that signal, lieutenant."
"Sir, I'll try my best"
The commandant turns a little red in the face as he nearly explodes with anger, "Lieutenant! I did NOT SAY TRY! I SAID DO! DO IT!"
"Sir! As you say sir!"
With that, Tolani turns his full attention to the console and begins working, while the commandant makes a secure VVT call (Video+Voice Transmission) to his superiors to inform them of the message.
Tolani yells to another communications officer, "Eize! Get your rusty ass over here, you know this shit better than me, see if you can clear it up some"
Eize Ryda leaves his terminal and heads to Tolani's, and begins running some signal strength checks among other things. "What the?! Did you happen to notice the timestamp on this transmission? 2653... This message is from thousands of years ago. Why, and HOW in the hell are we getting this -now-?"
Cmdt Poltako returns from his VVT and asks "Any progress?" to which Tolani responds, "Sir, Lt Ryda pointed out to me that the message's timestamp indicates this message was sent in 2653.. thousands of years ago." "What? this doesn't make any sense.. Ryda, Tolani.. Solve it. ASAP"
"Yes Sir!" the two respond in unison..
"So, Eize.. any ideas?" "A few, actually.. Do you remember your quantum physics from elementary school? Remember what large gravity wells can do to subspace" responds Eize. "Well of course.. MY neural implants give me a photographic memory"
"Well..I have a theory I wanna bounce off you. We know where the Sol -> Serco Prime wormhole is, well, was.. but no one's gone there in a thousand years. It's off-limits to all but a handful of government officials.. what if.. it's reopening?"
"What?! No way, thats not going to happen for a LONG time, and this sun will probably die before that happens.. besides, we have a guisemanned station that sits there monitoring it, see, its right.. what the hell? where is it?" says Tolani, furiously searching the Serco Military Database.
"What? The station is missing?" asks Eize, "Oh, I dunno, but its not in our database, I was going to show you live feed from it, but it's not in the database anymore, in fact, it's as if it was never there." responds Tolani.
"Pull up a remote feed on where it's supposed to be. NOW" barks Eize and Tolani complies, and they both stare in disbelief. "What.. The.. Hell.. Is.. THAT?!" Eize says aloud, to noone in particular..

The two communication technicians stare at the viewscreen in disbelief. "A hive Leviathan? In Serco Space? This is not good.. Alert the Commandant." states Tolani.
Upon hearing the news, the Commandant is still curious, "How did it get here without our sensors picking it up?" Eize states, "Sir, I would guess that the most -important- question should be, 'Why is it broadcasting 2thousand year old SGF messages.'"
"Interesting. It must have recorded it during the old war, is this thing that old?"
Eize states, "Begging your pardon, sir, but that's not possible, since the first Hive Queen to go rogue didn't happen until well after that broadcast would have been sent. There is, however, another possible solution. Quite possible that picked it up from a time-displaced subspace transmission, which is a theory I've been working recently. Basically it's this: Some time before the Leviathan entered our sector, it passed a rift in spacetime, possibly an uncharted, unstable wormhole, which, as you know, not only can travel through space, but through time as well, if the conditions are right."
"So, you think this.. thing.. picked up the transmission as it was being broadcasted through an unstable wormhole?" states the Cmdt.
"Yes sir, we need to disable it, but NOT destroy it, so I can board it and interface with it's data port and attempt to backtrack it's travels..", states Eize Ryda.
"See to it Eize"
"Oh boy.. I'm going to need more firepower", thinks Eize, dialing up a few old friends. "Wonder how the High Command is going to react when they read my contact log..."
OOC: btw. Im not sure where I'm going with this, so feel free to add your own.

-cry- no one likes?
you managed to post two chapters without the usual trolls destroying the story line. it's a good sign. just keep adding to the story and people will forge an opinion with time.
V'GER!
Cybernetic creatures?
Serco = mechanical implants = cybernetics...
I'll add more this evening, I'm kinda doing it one piece at a time.. no idea where this is gonna end up. :)

"Janilo, it's Eize Ryda, it's been a while, I know, but listen.. I'm going to need firepower. LOTS of firepower. The kind of power that only Corvus can bring to bear, (or the Serco Space Command) But I also need my commanders to have plausible deniability if things go south. That's why I'm calling you. I need the best heavy pilots you can find, along with a few Trident-class vessels, and some smaller support craft. Money is no object. Here's the problem however.. I need them in Sol II, ASAP. I will brief the pilots immediately upon their arrival.. They will need to understand that they may not survive, but their families will be compensated, under the table of course."
Eize encodes the transmission with an algorithm he hasn't used in years, and sends it, high priority, to the Corvus Barracks in Odia.
OOC: This is where you guys can jump in.. cmon now.. it aint a "story" its an "interactive tale" :)

ooc: cmon guys.. this is an open RP story.. I need volunteers to add their own spice to the story. anyone can participate. I don't care which direction it goes, just keep it interesting.. and try to stay within the same theme of what I've set, but a few "offshoots", if done well, can help the plot develop.

ps: story is stuck here until I get a response from some pilots to meet my character in Sol II. :)

Have some sort of pirate activity from like, CLM and Syn related pilots, jump in and try to stop the heavy weapons from reaching Sol II. Maybe the Akan followers, find a way to either help or prevent the pilots reach the Leviathan.
OOC- actually, I was thinking more along the lines of the pirates BEING the pilots, but they didn't pipe up. so this story died. heh
awww, okay.
