Deneb Run #115

Nov 16, 2007 MSKanaka link
The Makchuga, CDC and TGFT are proud to bring you The Deneb Run this weekend.

*** The TIME will be 4PM Eastern Standard Time, 1PM Pacific, 9PM Sunday GMT (Or 21:00) ***

*** Please take note of the two new/modified rules! ***

The race progress announcements will be announced on Channel 500

All citizens are welcome to race, there is no entrance fee, and 6 Million credits in prizes are available. Some of it could be yours!

Once again, the rules are:

1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) There is a maximum eight-racer limit (seven if there is only one MC), or four racers per group. This is to allow the MCs to actually be able to MC the race and keep track of all the racers. Spots are first-come, first-served, with a priority on those who post to this thread. The group sizes may be increased if the MCs can handle it and there is enough interest on a given week. (new rule)
4) Contestants must be within 100m of the MC(s) before the start
5) No shooting before the race starts.
- Depending on the severity of the infraction, and at the host's (or hosts') discretion, violation of this rule can result in not only a disqualification for the current race, but also a ban from winning prize money as either a racer or an anti-racer in future Deneb Runs. (new rule extension)
6) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
7) All weapons and ships allowed, except those listed in #11.
8) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (3 million credits)
9) Second person back gets 2nd place prize (2 million credits)
10) Third person back gets 3rd place prize (1 million credits)
11) Valkyrie ships are not allowed.
12) Attempting to trigger a false start of the race is grounds for disqualification.
13) Money for killing other racers: Any pilot, racing or not, is eligible to earn money as follows:

Pre-condition #1: There must be at least 3 racers
Pre-condition #2: Less than 3 racers complete The Deneb Run
If the above pre-conditions are met, the undistributed prize money will be awarded to those who killed the racers as follows:
- Kills in the Odia M-14 sector are not eligible
- The most recent eligible kill earns the highest unawarded prize money (3 mil, 2 mil, 1 mil, or 0)
- The 2nd most recent eligible kill earns the 2nd highest unawarded prize money (2 mil, 1 mil, or 0)
- The 3rd most recent eligible kill earns the 3rd highest unawarded prize money (1 mil or 0)

Please reply to this thread if you intend to race.

Vroom vroom. I want to race.

Fixed, Waldoze.

I hate timezones... why can't we all just use UTC/GMT? x.x
Nov 17, 2007 Waldoze link
Personally, I agree ... If we all used GMT it would be easier. I just happen to live in PST so that is why I know the conversion!

I might be a little late getting ingame, but the race should be starting on time.

Depends on if the laptop's video card wants to play nice after rebooting for the software update or not. If it doesn't, I'll need a couple extra minutes to fix the problem, but I should be ingame by 20:15 GMT regardless.

so starting now are all of the runs going to be in the early slot?
Nov 18, 2007 MSKanaka link
Results will be up sometime after I get back from dinner.

JB: Explain to me where I said that was the case? It was early slot this week because it was most convenient for me and LNH to hold it at that time. The DR frequently will use a single time slot more than once in a row if it's impossible or inconvenient to use the other.

Next week's timeslot will be announced with the results.

I think you need to edit rule #7.

==The Racers==
Mick - UIT council of PA. Veteran racer who almost always places, often in first.
Istamir Sol - Itani pilot. He's been racing a bunch recently, and he has consistently done well.
Katrina Le-Feir - UIT council of PA. Veteran racer who almost always places, often in first.
Waldoze - UIT council of TGFT. He's raced once or twice before.
Hakashis Sholus - Serco council of UC. Unsure if he's raced before.

==The Results==
Istamir Sol | 27:02 | Orion Hornet Convoy Guardian, FC, no weapons.
Katrina Le-Feir | 27:40 | Orion Hornet Convoy Guardian "Kit-e-Kat", FC, no weapons.
Mick | 27:53 | Vulture MkIII, FC, no weapons.
Hakashis Sholus | 31:23 | Warthog MkII, FC, no weapons.
Waldoze | 33:36 | Orion Hornet Convoy Guardian, FC, no weapons.

==Observations==
1) The race started outside the station as usual this week.
2) Theopolis donated 5M for the first-place winner, so Istamir won 8M this week in total.
3) Starting the race on time (21:00:00 exactly according to the VOTime plugin) allows on-site estimates for how long a racer took to complete the race. Waldoze's on-site estimate was given as 33:37, but according to my logs it is actually 33:36. All other racers had correct estimates.

Next week's run will be at 2100 GMT (4PM eastern, 3PM Central, 1PM Pacific), aka the EARLY slot. I'm probably going to be busy during the late slot that evening.
