Ok then.

But it does seem a bit odd.

So I could sit in the sector for 60 seconds before I jumped away and that delay would not count against my race time? Is there a limit in the rules as to how long I could delay?

One time i lost my navroute setting and had to reload (windows and the game didn't like me loading navroutes) and i had to redo them. took about a min

csgno1: Within reason for lag, and if the race were that close at the end I would use my "GO" message as the reference point. Usually, there's more than 20 seconds between the first and second-place finishers, and there's only about three seconds worth of difference between when the first person jumps and the last person jumps, so it has yet to make a difference in the outcome of the race.

For the record, if you sat there in the sector for a minute after the other racers left I'd either shoot (at) you myself, disqualify you, or (most likely) set your "start" time to that of the last person in the main pack. The placement in the race is not determined by the time; it is determined by the order in which the racers dock in M-14.

While it may not say anything in the rules about waiting before leaving the sector, there are also no explicit rules about how your run-time is calculated.

I'm going to start counting from "GO" next week, so any hypothetical situations are subsequently moot.

JB: Normally I ask if people are ready. This week I was in a rush to make sure I got something to eat for dinner, not to mention a nasty mood, and neglected to make sure that people were ready with their navroutes. However, plenty of racers (including me when I race) plot their routes mid-race; there are certainly enough wormhole sectors with really long approach vectors to allow for this.

I'm not blaming you MSKanaka. My navroute was there, then i lost it. I notice it happens sometimes in vista. i think i plotted the storms i knew in Grey and serco then started. Took me a few seconds to figure out why i wasn't jumping. I have no problem with your calculations. I'm gonna come in last anyway so who cares.
