--The Racers--
Waldoze -- Union pilot. "Probationary" member of TGFT. This was his first race.
SCAR Bank -- Serco member of SCAR. Tonight this character was flown by Nautargos, one of SCAR's council members. He races from time to time.
Jestatis Bess -- Akanese commander of ONE1, he has become a regular of the Deneb Run, but has yet to take home the 3M first prize.
NP -- Union pilot, a member of PA. This was (I think) his first race.
Tex Arcana -- Union pilot, unguilded. This was his first race.
Dartok Anto -- Itani pilot, unguilded. After several races, he has yet to actually finish the circuit!
--The Results--
Waldoze | 33:17 | Orion Hornet Convoy Guardian, FC, no weapons.
SCAR Bank | 33:29 | Warthog MkII, FC, no weapons.
Jestatis Bess | 33:31 | Orion Hornet Convoy Guardian, FC, no weapons.
NP | 34:19 | Corvus Vulturius, FC, no weapons.
Tex Arcana | 39:09 | Centurion MkIII, FC, 1x Plasma HX.
Dartok Anto | DNF | TPG Raptor, Heavy, no weapons.
--Observations--
1) I have no idea what Dartok was thinking using a heavy powercell. He quickly dropped to the back of the racer pack, and was taken out by an SAF member before even reaching Pyronis. (He took the Helios route and was killed in B-7 before reaching the wormhole.)
2) A couple odd ship choices today--two ships with 60/s drain. Oddly enough, they both finished!
3) Today's Deneb Run marked the debut of an announcement assistant script, "MC Spammer", designed by the MCs of today's race, Eonis Jannar and myself. The script worked just about as well as we'd expected it to, and the bugs that did crop up have provided us with enough information to get the script closer to perfect for next week! Thanks to all the racers for being patient with us and the script--we had to recreate one of the groups because of how we'd written the code to determine who in the group was a racer and who wasn't, and it took a little bit of time.
Next week's Deneb Run will be in the EARLY slot again. Hope to see you then!

Ummm, you just forgot the weapons loadouts so you put "No Weapons" right? I know I reported I had one neut on my Centurian (I affectionately call her Suger Foot), and that I-tani feller Jestatis was hanging around a wormhole after he finished, chasin' after me and firin' gems.
I don't recall who had what, but definately just about everyone had weapons. Shootin' didn't play a big part in the race though.
Congrats to the top three. Good race. I'm glad I got a chance to finish my first race despite interferance and poor planin' on my own part. See y'all next time. I learned a lot from this one, maybe next time I'll see y'all finish while sitting at the station with a victory drink in my hand.

According to the notes I took down when asking for layouts, you did not have any weapons on there. Dartok had told me he had weapons, and then afterwards told he me didn't. I can check the logs again.
Tex i raced with no weapons. After i finished racing i loaded gems then came after you :)
[Sat Jul 28 16:54:10 2007] (group) [Odia M-14] <Tex Arcana> gCenturian III fast charge Plasma HX
Neither of us was right, Tex. :P
You did tell me you had a weapon, but you said it was an HX, not a neutron. Fixed above.

Heh, I as probably under the influance of some malt based drink when I remembered I had a neut. I knew I reported some weapon though.
My reading of the rules kind of lead me to believe that weapons might be a good idea (don't ask me what I planned to do with one plasma hx) since it seemed that not only other racers can fire on you but bystanders as well. Though I admit that when someone did fire at me I just wanted to finish the race since I was almost there anyway, and just ran for it.
That was most likely the best tactical choice. Maybe that's why no one else bothes wih weapons, I guess.
