I still can’t believe he’s gone. It feels like just yesterday I was digging marbles out of my cockpit, welding his locker shut, and dropping some serious game on his lady friend. That’s all over now, he’s gone, I have to accept it, but I don’t. I can’t.
I keep seeing his ship exploding. I keep seeing the debris drifting into dust. I keep seeing the pirate who shot him down, and I keep replaying over and over the moment I landed back at station and he wasn’t there.
It’s inconceivable to me that an auto return system could fail. Since my first day in space I knew whatever happened, we were safe, we’d land back at our station safe and sound, ship or none. Not this time…
The official Viper File lists him as Missing In Action, presumed dead. I think the Vipers are all feeling the same loss as I am, the same utter despair at the loss of our colleague, our friend. We’ve all placed a single marble on the dash of our ships. I’ve personally loaded one in each rocket I fire. Let the pirates feel the sting, Vehement style.
I don’t think he’s dead. I keep having these dreams, seeing his destruction in 3d slow motion, high contrast oversaturated reality. But then I see him float free of his ship, and he tells me not to worry, he’ll be back, and he’ll be fine…
I’m having nightmares too, more and more. I see myself destroying all the people I’m trying to protect. I see my sights line up on Vehement’s ship and blast away, I see him turn to vapor, and I wake up screaming.
He’ll be back, and he’ll be fine…
I have to believe it.
If I don’t I don’t know how to explain why I think it’s my fault.

It is actually a fairly simple mathematic exercise. If we assume the void to be infinite, any finite body of space will be inexistent compared to it, mr bean.
Well, let's feed it Lecter's Ego. I'm fairly certain THAT's infinite.

Apparently Vehement just went on vacation, Miharu told me the other day. Why we're all mourning that, I have no idea. Us Viper are an emotional lot I guess. Anyway, I'm told he'll be back eventually, although not when, how, or where, which makes me slightly suspicious. I also have to find anoother way explain these bad dreams I'm having. They're getting worse. I see traders dying under my guns, over and over again...
Maybe it's just stress. A lot of us have been busy with diplomacy and other less exciting duties the last week, and it seems that I've been all by myself on patrol, fighting off the pirates. Not that I mind, it's a unique and interesting challenge fighting off 3 pirates at once, and a beautiful feeling to win it. Much thanks to ITAN for the Valk, it's serving me well.
It seems there are more and more CLM every day. Most of them are new to combat, and I have a bit of guilt destroying them, but pirates are pirates! Still, I have to wonder what makes them turn to piracy, and I sometimes wonder what it would take to make me a pirate. I can't think of anything...
My most recent trade efforts are complete, and I'm richer. Life is good, except not being able to sleep. Maybe if I sleep on stack of credit chips?

I met a very nice girl on my vacation. We were having dinner the third night of my trip when another very lovely girl whom I did not know marched straight up to me, slapped me in the face, and called me a "womanizing piratical dog". Then the very nice girl I was having dinner with slapped me too, and stormed off.
I have no idea who the second girl was, and I have no idea if the first will ever speak to me again.

So, firstly, I think The Vipers all took a vacation, because I haven't seen them around. Fortunately, their timing was perfect, because most of the pirates went on vacation too, and the ones that didn't are inept.
Secondly, Z0 accidentally attacked me the other night... 3 times... I'm not happy about the reports I have to fill out about that. Mr. "Im a scavanger" should only try scanvanging already dead ships.
Thirdly, my nightmares are getting worse, which I didn't think was possible. Worse still, they're starting to feel less like nightmares. Last night I had one about me yelling a lot. Weird. Yelling and blowing things up.
Patrol is coming up tonight, gotta stay sharp for all 1 pirate I run into and thwart mercilessly.

They found me out, but they haven't yet found me!
Problem is, I'm stuck. I can't leave HQ without being detected, and as soon as I do, they'll catch me. I may not even make it off station. My only chance is to get into space and transmit my data before I get shot down. I have no access to the outside though, I don't know where anyone will be. What if I launch and I can't find a CLM pilot to send to before I get popped? Damn CNN! Can't read a f****** calendar. If I ever get out of this, I'm going to wipe the Corvus News Network off the map.
Well, I'll just have to risk it, the only question is when?
