Didn't know CLM raced, lnh.
Hmmm, I remember back in the BLAK days, when we used to get hired by certain racers to makes sure a certain racer didn't finish, isnt that the same as this? I know for a fact, that during the last CLM LMS, the three major guilds that were there did not attack own guild members untill there was lack of other opponents (makes sonse really) is not that the same? Lets take a guild like SCAR, imagine if SCAR had a pilot in the race, and the rest of his guild decided to pirate some ITAN scum while they race, the SCAR member racing _cannot_ be attacked by his guild members, cos he;s an admired Serco, so would you put a bounty on SCAR? (Using SCAR pureley as an example, we all know they suck too much to actually cop a racer :P)
Seems a bit much to me, but then again, if your throwing about 10 mills, who am I to argue!

I may make a new character just to collecton these 10 mil bounties. Much more profitable than the run itself...
Hrmmm....
Hrmmm....
Also, he was pretending to date a chick that was actually a guy.

Blue, I want to be sure that you know I will support any DR ruleset as long as it is clear and known in advance. I consider it your game, as well as SSC's and TGFT's: anything the top brass from the three sponsors do/want, it's official in my eyes. Your game, your rules.
If you put an humongous bounty on a racer for the actions of his/her guildmates, that's fine for me. I don't think it's a good idea - actually the very opposite - but if you want to do so, feel free.

It has come to my attention that a rule is trying to be implemented and setting up a bunch of rules other than the basics will make the Deneb Run look less interesting. The way the Deneb Run is now is perfect in my view to last a long time. If a guild wants to try to make their own members win... then they can take the risk of getting hit in public for it but to implement a whole new rule for it... it's just over reacting.
TGFT doesn't want this rule implemented or we may take action.

Sigma concurs with TGFT on this issue.
If CDC wants to throw 20M away every week, that's perfectly fine by the rest of the community--it's CDC's money, not ours--but as an official rule, and the timing involved in this thread's creation, it just looks like poor sportsmanship.
We do not want this rule to be implemented, and will stand by TGFT in whatever response they wish to take in the event that it is.
PS: I also disagreed with the decision to award the racer-hunters with prize money, and I still disagree. In fact, I made a suggestion to the effect of just putting all unclaimed prize money into a pot for the next week's race, which I will repost here with modifications to fit the current prize values.
1) Prize values would remain the same; 3 million for 1st place, 2 million for 2nd place, and 1 million for 3rd place.
2) Pirates would not be paid out of this amount; they would have to make their own "Kill the Racers" fund, something spuck is clearly able to do (and fund).
3) Should less than three racers finish, the prize money that was not awarded during the race is added to the six million credit pot of the next race, where it will be divided up appropriately for that race. This process would repeat until three (or more) racers completed the Deneb Run, at which point the winnings would be divided among the first three finishers in the same 3:2:1 ratio.
Example sequence of Deneb Runs under this rule:
Run A:
Initial pot: 6 million (3000000; 2000000; 1000000)
7 racers, 2 finish.
5 million credits awarded, 1 million added to next week's pot.
Run B:
Initial pot: 7 million (3500000; 2333333; 1166667)
3 racers, 0 finish.
0 credits awarded, 7 million added to next week's pot.
Run C:
Initial pot: 13 million (6500000; 4333333; 2166667)
5 racers, 1 finishes.
6.5 million awarded, 6.5 million added to next week's pot.
Run D:
Initial pot: 12.5 million (6250000; 4166667; 2083333)
6 racers, all finish.
12.5 million awarded, pot resets for next week.
Run E:
Initial pot: 4 million (3000000; 2000000; 1000000)
7 racers, 3 finish.
6 million credits awarded, pot resets for next week.

Again, chaning what is already there is not needed. Why make a race take place in the middle of Corvus/Grey space and only reward the racers? Wans't this race initially started by someone in BLAK? The race has been doing fine until someone loses their temper and raises a stink about the pirates doing what they do. So, again, TGFT doesn't want any new rule implemented or we may take action.
"EDIT: This is in no way shape or form an official rule of the Deneb Run. Just my response to "THat's just the way it is"."
This is not a rule. The CDC is not involved because, if you will look, Blue Streak is not in the CDC. And has been stated already, TGFT and Sigma don't want this "rule", however non existent it may be.
Previously, I didn't have the luxury of being in a large guild with active members, nor do I have that luxury now. I cannot call friends to take out racers, such is the luxury that other racers have in bigger, and some would say better, guilds. So, what I am to do? Sit by with my thumb firmly up my ass?
To be quite honest, the "repercussions" other guilds "face" for such actions as engaging in pirate-like activity during the race, are virtually non existent. As such, as a racer, if I feel threatened by pirates, or those who engage in such activity, I will pay off their "peers" to kill them and the ones who benefit from such pirating.
This isn't going to pirate guilds such as CLM, who do not race. This is going to those guilds who like to help by shooting down others.
So once again, I reiterate: Either what I'm doing is fine because what others do in shooting down racers is fine, or I am guilty and so are the ones who engage in the activity of race piracy. I'm hoping everyone involved including myself has morals and confidence high enough that they do not need to engage in piracy to win.
PS - Very good race, Mick. Didn't ay it before, sorry. THat storm in geira really bonked me out good :)

So you deleted your first post?
EDIT: nvm.
EDIT: nvm.
attempting to modify the terms of the race, or extending existing non aggression pacts to protect participants of the race, is lame.
independently offering bounties for racers, pirates, or any other party participating in the race in any form, could be considered in the spirit of the race.

It is obvious by now that some people don't read, others don't know when to stop.
The rule described by Blue Streak/Erik C. a Lieutenant in the CDC, who has no authority to place new rules to the Run, is clearly expressed as a rule he himself will enforce and was never meant as an official rule. Of course, people with animosity towards the Guild and/or Erik C. promptly jumped at the opportunity to attack the individual and the Guild and thus we have this mess that's taken a surprisingly two pages. Unsurprisingly, the only person who kept the discussion on topic was Roda Slane, and his last post certainly sums everything up in a way CDC command agrees with.
CDC apologizes to anyone who believed this was a new rule trying to be imposed into the Deneb Run. CDC leaves it to Blue Streak's discretion on whether ti use his own rule during the race or not, as putting bounties on racers is as legal as simply going out and shooting them.
I believe the topic has been exhausted and there's nowhere for this thread to go but as a flamefest, therefore I'm asking FM to please lock this thread.
P.S. Blue Streak/Erik C.'s resignation from the CDC has not been accepted and he has been reinstated fully.
Respectfully,
Joyce Christianson, Commander of the CDC

Well that is a bit clearer, but still Jex. You gotta reread your posts.
"It is obvious by now that some people don't read, others don't know when to stop."
While this is a nice attempt at clever juxtaposition, it doesn't really make sense. So you want us to read all of the posts before replying (which I agree with), or do you want us to only read select few? Those are slightly different...

I'm pretty sure that as you aren't a mod, you don't have the right to determine when a thread is done, so please stop acting like you own the forums.

I created the thread. I want it closed. And that is something the mods have said they'll be happy to oblige.
If anyone still has misconceptions, feel free to talk to me on IRC or email me at MonkofAkan@gmail.com

Well, I still have some thoughts on it. Since they're semi relevant, I'd like to post them here, but if the thread gets locked, I'll have to go to a new thread.
Moldy's clarification of his personal (rather than sponsored) rule makes it all a lot better. In fact I think offering bounties for the DR would mean more guns = more exciting. While I think 10 mil is a bit much, it's a good idea.
Okay, I'm done. Smittens now deems this thread may be locked, mods!

Nono, you people have forgotten!
Blue Steak is a ninny.
There!
@ Miharu - You feel free to stop rewarding Racer killers, and I'll feel free to start mining Corvus M-14. You need to think before you speak, and think about why we started getting payed in the first place :P
