Flag Raid #9
The CDC is proud to present the Ninth Official Flag Raid!
System: Odia
Station: Corvus Hold, Odia M-14
Flag Widget: 1cu of Random item that takes 3+ cus of space
Time: Alternating with the Deneb Run on Saturdays, either 5pm or 9pm Eastern. This week's timeslot is 5PM EST (22:00 GMT)
NOTE: Any ship and any weapon is allowed. Also, the only other rules at the moment are:
Prohibitions:
1) No leaving the Odia M-14 sector
2) No attempting to imitate the Flag widget with a different item.
3) ANY firing in Odia M-14 before or after ANY round (but not during) counts as disqualification. If a referee gets hit, or worse blown up, the offending pilot is out. This includes deploying mines between rounds.
How to Play
Participating pilots are split into two teams by the judges, depending on nationality, faction standings and amount of available pilots. The game is played in a series of sorties, and the teams start each one docked in the station (this means every pilot). Meanwhile, the judge drops the Flag somewhere in the ice cluster; when everything is ready, the judge calls Go and the event begins. The objective is for a team to work together to grab the Flag and dock successfully with it. The team that successfully does so earns a point. To confirm that the pilot did indeed dock with the Flag, the pilot will undock on the Judge's call and drop the Flag. Any other result good drop punishes the offending team with a negative point. Verification of scoring ends the sortie, and the field is reset for the next (pilots dock or first leave the system to remove any temporal KOS, then return to dock).
The best score out of five rounds wins.
ATTENTION: Alternate rules for this Raid
Two flags will be used per sortie this time, each a different type. To score, a team must capture BOTH flags. A pilot carrying just one must announce when he docks [B]AND THEN STAY DOCKED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SORTIE, THAT IS, UNTIL THE SECOND FLAG DOCKS TOO. The end-of-sortie time out is not called until both flags have docked. If one team has both of them, it scores a point; if each team has just one, no points are awarded. Again, if one team lied about possession of a flag, they will be penalized one point.
We hope this variant will offset somewhat the ease at which times a point is scored in the original rules. Nevertheless, should the game last too long with this variant, a sudden-death sortie may be called, with just one flag and the original rules.
Prizes:
100,000 credits and a determined amount of items, depending on the item, per pilot on the winning team OR a flat 200,000 credits. 100,000 credits to each pilot on the losing team.
MVP Pirze Any participant that sweeps all scores for the winning team gets access to 2 Hive Positron Blasters or a Hive AGT on TOP of their normal prizes.

Ze teams:
The Black Reavers:
Jaida, Niki, Kerstaan, guitarwiz, skinnypuppy
The Piratey Pancakes
Pancakes of Fluffy, Ecka Estenk, Nagdas, Swag Man, MuteDonkey
One team Blue with a swirl of Gold, the other Union with a touch of Serco.
Ze game:
The new rules worked too well, as three sorties went by without either team being able to secure both flags. Every time, one of the Pancakes (Pancakes himself twice, Swag Man once) docked with a flag only to have Niki dock with the other.
So it was decided to hold a single-flag, tie-breaker round. The fighting got a little more fierce, but nevertheless Niki docked with the flag to award victory to the Black Reavers. A very good game, all in all.
Of the winners, everyone chose cash (times are harsh, these days in VO) but skinnypuppy who went for a Sniper package.
I think three Flags would work best next time, a team only needing two to score, but scoring twice if they get all three. Whaddaya think?
