If you make a bit of a stretch, (ie, ignoring the fact that it's the planet with the right name, not the star) Odia is less than 100 light-years from Earth.

Just simpler technology which is less prone to failure. There`s bits for each sector in a system, so it`s good enough. Now, you transfer a single byte to the engines and you can jump anywhere you want. No need for drivers `n stuff. That`s great efficiency for sure. A small dipswitch on the engine panels is all what`s needed for redundancy.
And why do you think the ships can be that cheap? Hell, they`re cheaper than an 8-Track ...

I`ve seen some for sale in Azek. But they were too expensive for me.
