Leber was a great character both in RP and in game. I regret his passing , but all good creators know when to let go of their creations. Chapter 1 of the tale of Lexicon reads well: I look forward to chapter 2.....

Cheers

I do agree VO is probably one of the harder games to roleplay in. Honestly I have 5 alts (not going to say all their names) and to try to keep some of them secret. The ones i enjoy playing are the ones where I escape the hassel of my normal posts. Playing as Ippo and Sagara I rarely have time to play people always want to talk. Not a bad thing, but its good to go back to how I started, unknown.

I do agree the best way to make a seperate alt is to start from scratch. Learn new fighting styles. Learn how to fly new ships and use new weapons. It's very enjoyable while you have the time to spend it in game. Also it helps if you don't get angry at some players for breaking RP and smack talking the whole time. Honestly I've accidently revealed 3 alts from anger. 2 revealed by Tumble and 1 by Niki. Although most have been retired I still have them how they were.

I wish you luck Lexicon.

Just because some RP ninnys wanna down your buzz, don't let em, specially _them_ rp ninnys.

On the reverse side of the spectrum, part of the problem comes from the RPers themselves expecting a new chance while they still harbor preconcieved notions about others. Someone who had bad experiences with a certain pilot might still react in ways based off of the bad experiences from the previous character towards that pilot while RPing a new character. I'm not saying leebs/lexicon does this in any way, just throwing my 2c into the topic. If one wants to RP a 100% new chracter, he has to wipe all his former experiences with all other players and look at them anew.

Um, to clarify for the twits: Ory'Hara was an Itani with a relatively specific mission, not an independent character. (1) Rack up BP cash when there were no Serco and lots of smurfs, then transfer said cash to Lecter; (2) mess with LeberMac's head via advertising that got [SCAR] a good bit of air time and some much needed notoriety; (3) serve in various hired capacities (see, e.g., the Joyce Experiment).

When Ory'Hara outlived his usefulness, Lecter had his inventory liquidated, his bank account drained and his skull blown to pieces. End of story.

I choose this moment to bring up the Verdandi Incident as it relates to bad RP/RL interaction. Discuss.

Good RP, bad RL. There is a line that must be drawn with RP and RL and it was not drawn with the Verdandi Incident.

I don't ask permission to RP a character. I don't normally kill my characters either, they usually just retire, or go on vacation, or whatever. I can level a character so fast that I don't bother with changing names or nationalities.

I consider leveling a character to be a part of building that character, it's history, personality, relationships. I watched as Lexicon appeared out of nowhere, began spredding his gospil, and ventured forth to the border conflicts. This is a character in creation. This is a character that has a history, a purpose, a personality of it's own. I personally like Lexicon, even if some of my characters don't. It's a call each of my characters has to make individually. I have no idea what lexicons story line is, and it isn't my play style to go and find out. My characters react the way they are predisposed to react.

Some of my character miss LeberMac very much, and morn his loss. But their only assosiation between LeberMac and Lexicon is what LeberMac or Lexicon will allow. Third party introduction of storyline is hearsay until verified from a proper source.

I think that there are independant alts (the alt is an independant character with no hidden ties to any other alt), and predependant alts (the alt has predesigned relationships). I think that reveiling a independant alt (or worse, threating to), is inmature, spitefull, and a sign of generial disrespect to rp in generial. The only time I see reveiling an alt as acceptable, is when the alt is strictly an extension of another alt, and has no independant character of it's own. Finding out who an alt is, is not that hard to do, and only a ignorant person would be proud of doing it on purpose.

It can be very hard to keep even just two characters separate. I have made many mistakes with my characters, caried prejudices and vendettas from one character to another, etc.., I may very well have made every mistake you can make in rp. Even keeping up with a single character can be a task in itself. If someone decides to terminate a character in order to start another one, so be it.

"..and The Great Lady declaired that the Serco would bring unity to the galaxy..."

I don't realy try to rp my char, cos of the rl/rp barrier.

Sometimes in the past I have tried, but always end up doing or saying something that is just too _me_ so I tend not to try. Also, people bugging me to know who I am when I slip up makes me feel sad!

Anyways, whatever, RP is for ninnys, I'm here to play a game!

kinda like "jefferson clay" and "liddy" bing one and the same if i ever (read never) get around to finishing my backstory it will make sence how i can be two (or more) physical bodys at once.

also possibley part of the reason that many havent really let go of leebs is because when mogul died, there was a funeral in the forum where some attended the funeral went elsewhere afterwards etc etc. perhaps that would help make leebs more dead to us.

Mogul's death was more "real" to me, mainly because of the Constellation event.

That's the problem for many. Lexicon is a new personality in the LeberMac body. I mean it, read the story. Without LeberMac before him, Lexicon could not exist. But it is what it is.
Nov 09, 2006 Lexicon link
Indeed. moldyman is correct. Lexicon is the "born again" version of LeberMac. Due to the horrible radiation damage in Pelatus, years of punishing physical neglect & voluminous drinking habits, LeberMac's body was in no position to regenerate itself without infusions of the clone DNA material from Joyce Sanders clone slave pod (Thanx, Lecter!) and heavy Serco implant modifications.

We'll just have to keep an eye on Lexicon and make sure he doesn't regress into any old-style personality habits. I'm sure his handlers would HATE to have to ratchet up his... treatments.

@ mr bean: Do you think I am RelayeR? I saw nothing in your thread from RelayeR about how it should be in RP instead of CP... Only posts I saw on that were from me.

chillum baba != RelayeR... LOL

i thought of a ceremony for lebermac but, rp-wise, i couldn't really do it. lebermac was a wanted felon for piracy as far as [itan] was concerned and i couldn't see uc making a funeral for lebermac.

in fact, uc hasn't really spoken out on the issue yet. denial? regrets? unlike mogul, uc didn't get much exposure to lebermac.
