it is with great pleasure that we celebrate, this october 25th 4434, the first anniversary of the coalition of [itan].
in it's first year, the coalition has had many turning points, highlight and some low-lights as well. but one thing is certain: this guild is lively and has proven to be a complete success as to achieving it's goals: to unite two great fronts of itani into a single effective entity. members of both the original itani alliance and itani defense force had achieved what many discredited as being impossible: prove that democracy can work in a guild and show that unity brings strength.

some facts about the guild;
after lengthy meetings, smittens is the one who finally came up with coalition of [itan]:

initially, the guild was composed of these founding members:

(council & lieutenant) mogul velaio
(council & lieutenant) yasumoto
(council) lebermac
(council) miharu
(council) xeelee

and a couple of proxy members until members of the itani alliance [ia] and itani defense force [idf] were incorporated into the merged entity.
the first ever commander was holdan and served about 2 months. then, the first elected commander was mogul velaio (rip) wich was briefly succeeded by jestatis bess as interim commander until smittens was elected commander and then myself for the current 3-month term. a number of council and lieutenants were re-elected in succeeding terms.
the coalition of [itan] is the longest-running itani ideal and guild in this universe, changing name and reshaping at times: from blue nation government, it became itani nation military [inm] and then itani defense force [idf] & itani alliance [ia]. these last two then regrouped to form the current coalition of [itan].
the merged entity's name was a consorted effort spanning multiple meetings. many things were considered when choosing the name, such as the "jerk factor"(tm) (avoiding name wich could be distorted to sound stupid), avoiding name wich resembled any previous entity to avoid jealousy, finding a unifying theme etc. these are some of the names that were brought up during these meetings but eventually didn't make the cut:

A small correction to your history, IA was formed from ISP (Itani Secret Police) and the few members of IDF who thought it would be what Itan has become (MGI, etc). While it doesn't have the way-back tradition of IDF, ISP was started within a few weeks of release!
To everyone from the days of ISP (preeety much just Yas!) who would ever have thought we'd remain under one name for a year?

I have to grudgingly admit ITAN's done its share for the good of VO. Didn't think it'd last this long, so congrats!

I love the "Blueshift" idea for a guild name, unfortunately, it would have been quickly renamed by everyone "BlueShit" or "BullShit" or "CORE" or some other stupid offensive name.
I never jouned the AA, that's fer sure.
I do recall that Smittens was like a petulant child during the naming process, demanding that the name of the new guild be [IA] Itani Alliance. Well, until he figured out that his opinion only counted for one person and he didn't get to "rule by fiat" anymore.
Happy birthday, [ITAN] - your domain name has been renewed for another year in anticipation of being around for at least a couple more months. Heh.
