37th Nation War
RULES:
1) A participant can use any equipment they wish except for Locust and Chaos Swarm missiles. All ships are allowed.
2) No running for obcene distances. This is subjective, but honestly.. I'll call it if you go out beyond 3,000 meters of anyone. This rule is flexible and bendable, but do not abuse it.
Better guide, don't go outside of the asteroid field.
3) Once you are dead, you are out. You may return to watch in an EC class ship, but must announce this over sector comm.
4) Once you leave the sector you are out. This means no repairing at a station, no reloading and no jumping out to jump back in when your team wins.
5) The prize is two million credits, split among the qualifying survivors ONLY! If you have broken a rule above but have survived, don't expect to get credits.
6) The Nation War event will be held at Odia B-16, at the time of 9pm GMT (8pm GMT during Daylight Savings Time) on Sundays between three teams, each team representing a nation (that's 3:00pm Central time).
7) Team leaders are participants in the event, who represent their team when I speak to them. I expect them to be honest.
8) Things may change due to unavoidable circumstances. Always follow the instructions of Omega 0.
9) If a participant is hated by their own nation, they have may go on any of the teams (including their nation's team) so long as they are A) Liked by that nation (Ignore if you join your own nation's team) and B) Announce it beforehand, to myself and/or the participants. This keeps everyone in the know.
10) No interfering with playability in the War sector. this includes (but is not limited to): Cargo drops
Standings:
Itani - 16 wins
Serco - 7 wins
UIT - 12 wins
The event is hosted at a new time, see above.
Edited to remove rule #11

Finally.
good rule :)
thank you
wow....
...
So we're just going to eliminate all straetgy from the Nation War? Let's have everyone shoot in random directions and see who survives!
You're just boiling it down to this: whoever comes with more firepower wins. It just makes sense for the weaker teams to join together b/c otherwise they would lose! If they can't, you might as well declare a winner to the event before it even starts.
This game is supposed to balance itself out. Isn't that part of an MMORPG? The strongest dangerous ships/players are going to be ganked if possible. It's that simple. If you don't like it, DON'T FLY A GIANT TARGET.
From what I've read on the previous thread, this amendment is to satisfy a particularly loud group of obnoxious losers. Don't sacrifice the integrity of the event for them.
IMO, the teams should form alliances anyway. I'd like to see how this rule could be enforced...

If you violate the rule, you won't get your prize and your team won't be recorded in the Standings for that event if you win.
That is how the rule would be punished, not how it would be enforced. A pact between two of the teams could only be uncovered if someone from one of the two teams turns traitor and rats them out, thus eliminating their own chance to win.
Given that pacts between teams generally occur in order to balance a deficiency in numbers, firepower and/or skill, an outside observer probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway.

Moreover, the ganking of target ships isn't a pact. It's just what happens, even without some prior agreement. So, this new rule is just a way to hamstring any team that has fewer numbers.
I'll let you guys discuss for a little bit more and see what the majority says.
I for one find it a disgrace to the event as a whole... if a nation wants to win then they should plan a strategy. If the rule stays then I'm out for the time being.
A scenario comes to mind:
The game is played under the new (stupid) rules. Team A wins fair and straight. Then, a disgruntled pilot form Team B accuses team A and C of making a pact (or maybe even, his own Team B and Team A). Name calling and drama ensues; logs are presented and in general a mess made as the results are disputed. Whatever the end result, it's going to be one sour end for everyone involved, except maybe for the a**hole who launched the accusation. People could cry foul just to disrupt the end of the event.
And then what to do if the person was lying? Ban them from the event? What if the proof is insufficient, or looks like it? THis rule opens a rather big can of worms. It is a stupid tule; please take it out.

Indeed, not only is it a waste of time (much like any sort of prohibition), but given the recent posts, it would seem to be a response to Ayn's complaining.
It's just a matter of time before jexkerome's scenario will become a reality. There is no objective way to enforce rule #11 and rules that can not be enforced are stupid rules.

I say leave the rule.
Yep, read it again. Leave. The. Rule. In.
Why? For the exact reasons everyone said: It's not enforcable. So much like Prohibition, let's "say" we've outlawed pacts but you know the people with average+ IQs know that can't happen and laugh at it.

the only reason I would like the rule to be enforced is because its rarely the underdogs that are allied. Which brings it to a scenerio where 4 pilots have to take on 13.
I'm all for the rule. I just don't think, like the others here, that there's any way to enforce it.
Well, the majority seems to dislike the rule, and there's no real way to enforce it, so I guess I'll remove it.
Well, looks like the Itani mopped up :)
The winners were sapo, lord spidey, iry, drazed, Maximian, Ghost, Athran, and Omega 0. Each earned 250 000 credits. Congrats!
The standings are now:
Itani - 17 wins
Serco - 7 wins
UIT - 12 wins
Also, to prove that Proms CAN survive Nation Wars, Athran flew one into battle....and survived!

Yeah, I flew a prom for the Itani a few months ago and made it. Too bad I missed this one, I logged on about a half-hour late... :'(
