There is a substantial lack of racers in VO and I think this can be contributed to fear.
Players try their hand at racing then reason its not for them all too quickly.

Only reason I don't race is that there is no reason too race, no badge, no reward for beating a record, and no one holds racing events anymore (Apex >:{ ). If the devs gave it a reason, and there have been a number of good suggestions, then perhaps more would do it. Practice is the key to anything in vo, lessons are not necessary.

Races in the tubes or in general? Because a lot of people race in the Deneb Run (and hopefully will in the upcoming Corporate Sectors Run).

The Deneb run is not a race.
It is a bunch of ppl playing Ring Around the Rosey.
If you don't use your brakes it ain't a race.

There are many forms of racing, such as marathons, sprints, swimming, vehicle, eating, etc. To each their own.

I'm a satisfied customer. I learned I really don't like the racing tubes. Or perhaps I have to swallow that and just fly them lots more in order to begin to like them.

/me agrees with Lebermac, only I'm too lazy to actually give them tubes another chance.

Once there's an actual point to them, I might give the racetracks a try again; as they stand, they are neat things to take piccies of and show the neighbors, that's all.

I'm sorry I haven't been around to host VRL events.

I'd tried to ask others who wanted to take over the VRL format, but no one volunteered. If anyone wants to take over this format, please do. I think VRL events are awesome, we had one event, and it was sweet.

I would like the yodia run to run along side this, but alas, im a pirate with a vendetta atm, but once I finish it, I promise it will be held, someone else could sponser it for now and call it something else though.

the main problem with tube racing afaik is that the program
doesnt properly and reliably display finish times.

i guess the race promoter could sit at the finish line trying to look at the finishers and taking screenshots but ugh.
