The Deneb Run Race #9
There will be a BLAK sponsored race, The Deneb Run, on Sunday at around 1:00am gametime (According to my /time) in the game. This is the same time as the last race.
Rules will be:
1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (1 million creds)
Second person back gets 600k
9) Third person gets 400k
Obviously Fast Charge battery and a decent ship is recommended. Put your name down if you're interested. I won't start it with less than 6 racers.
So now, who can beat _ghost_'s time of 26:55.

me!
I will, if I manage to so switch back to the antique 32-bit version...
if I ever bother selling out my inventory (or someone makes the sector load not depend on your inventory), I think I'll have to pass. :-)
Count me in!

Summary of The Holden Caulfield Roving Reporter Memorial Race.
A good race this week. Niki made a rushed pitstop after deciding the EC107 wasn't the best ship for long races. Larry hit a roid while admiring the craftsmanship of a dentek collector and Dr. Lecter timed out and died while navigating a storm.
Screwball | 28:44 | IDF Valk, Fast Charge
Tumblemonster | 29:07 | IDF Valk, Fast Charge
Niki | 36:16 | EC107, IDF Valk, Fast Charge
Larry LeBeuf | DNF | Hog Mk2, Fast Charge
Dr. Lecter | DNF | IDF Valk, Fast Charge
This will probably be the last of the BLAK sponsored Deneb Runs. If someone else would like to take over, be my guest.
me looks at TGFT.

That was a great race!
For those that missed it, Tumblemonster and Dr. Lecter quickly gained the lead and were a jump or two ahead of me by the time we hit Deneb. A system or two later, something happened and Lecter died. Tumblemonster was about a system ahead when he took a bad route in Pherona and I mostly caught up with him. I continued gaining slightly over the next few systems and was about 800m behind him going into Pelatus. That got him to take a gamble in Pelatus and he hit a storm, so I didn't actually take the lead until almost the end of the race.
After three 3rd place finishes, I'm happy to finally win. I also posted my personal best time ever.
To Martin and BLAK: Thanks very much for running the races! They are a great event for the VO community and everyone involved has fun.
I think TGFT would be happy to host the races for a while. Of course, I've been having a few ideas about that already, so look for a few twists...

Woot! My record is safe!
So whos hosting it this week?
Excellent question. I will be running the race this week on behalf of TGFT. The race will begin at the same time, but other details may vary. Look for another post from me about this in a few hours (after I wake up).
I have doubts that this week's race will be open to many players, simply because of the new update. I know I tanked my serco standing a long time ago, for BP missions.
