The MGC and Turrets

Apr 07, 2005 Shapenaji link
You know, I still get questions as to what the MGC actually is.

So here's the MGC:

MGC: Mobile Goliath Cannon
Ragnarok Mk III
3 Flares
1 Jackhammer
1 Screamer/Jackhammer

Also known as the creature with the most damage potential in the galaxy, capable of taking out light fighters in 1 shot. And as Uncledave will attest, its a match for proms.

And I was taking against the Battleships in B8.

Interestingly, it also takes out turrets in 1 shot, REALLY easily. I took out all the turrets that were left on the itani cruiser. And since the proximity makes it so that you don't have to dead-on them, its really not the challenge it ought to be.

Hey, thanks Shape.

I hadn't heard of an MGC, but now I'm curious as to how well it would perform.
(and thanks for not typing turrents...lol)

Perhaps this would be a good place to start posting good loadouts for ships.
Many could benefit from this type of info. Unless it's already a post and I'm too lazy to look for it...

I think I've racked up at least 100 kills with one. They take more deliberate actions, you have to time it just right, and you have to be very comfortable with your dodging skills, since you are piloting a heavy ship. But it pays off.

It's only real problems are guided missiles and lmines.

Yeah, I was using that last night Shape, to blow up turrets. It's also makes a good ship for taking out those ships that are concentrating on the Cap Ship and not the other pilots. Because of it I got almost 20 or so kills without really trying too hard.

A good MGC Pilot can take out a cap ships turrets in no time. Hell I'm a medicore pilot and I did pretty well.

The amazing thing is, WITH "trying too hard" the thing is ferocious even against small fighters with blasters or flares, hogs with AGT,
and deadly against the dual flare +AGT combo

I find it best to hide one in a cap ship. That or either l mines, to either block non same nation entering the cappy, blow up multiple turrets with just a fly by drop, or clog up the enemy dock.

If I drop mines, as for example in cappy's dock, do I take a faction standing hit when a member of any opposing nation gets killed by the mines I laid?

For example, if I'm Itani and a UIT pilot loses his life to my mines, do I lose faction standing? I'm guessing the answer is 'yes, in monitored space' and I'm hoping the answer is 'never in unmonitored space'.

The cap ship, unllike a station with its guard bots, isn't "monitoring" its current sector for faction standings hits, I hope.
