Holy crap.
I just got a new computer, with a decent graphics card...
16MB system -> Radeon 9700.
All I can say is HOLY CRAP.
Vendetta looks UTTERLY INCREDIBLE with all the glowyness and the detail and the FPS in triple digits. I am filled with a wonderful, wonderful appreciation for Vendetta now, and I will be logging on from time to time simply to just... look around, its that purty. Omg. AWESOME.

Damn, I know the feeling. Nice, isn't it?
:/ I still have my ati 9200 with 32 megs of ram. On my 1.25Ghz emac. *sigh* oh well, I guess we all can't have prettiness now can we. Oh well, maybe once I'm in college or get a job some time soon I'll be able to buy a G5.....I can dream can't I?
9700's are still really nice cards. Vendetta also runs great on older hardware.
Vendetta looks sweet on my firewall, it has a 32 mb tnt 2.
It looks even sweeter on my machine, it has a 128mb fx5600.
Its very playable either way, eye candy is nice though =)

Hells yeah! I assume you've got AF and AA on?
I have no idea.
If it's a Windows PC, you turn them on in Settings (I reccommend the DX9 driver with Antialiasing=4 and Texture Filtering=Anistropic). If it's a mac or linux PC, I have no idea. I could tell you how nvidia does it, but not ati.
Ok, now it looks slightly sweeter >.>
Does the 9700 have hardware support for DX9? I thought it was only the current generation...
Yeah it looks great on my 8MB Rage 128 too! That was until somebody told me the ships and stations were meant to have colours and textures, that the sectors werent actually meant to be a pixely box -- with corners, oh and the Behemoth 'exit dock' sequence wasn't meant to look like some sort of syncopated, epileptics nightmare...
Then I saw it on a mates computer and I couldnt believe what I was seeing! Im going to stop being a poor uni student some time soon now, I promise...

I just recently got a new video card that lets me see the FSGE too. I've been spending more time in Ion Storms ever since, they're uber-cool.
Tyridum: It doesn't matter. It can still use the new DX9 abilities that this game uses (basically, slightly faster and better antialiasing) without having inherent hardware support.
Everything glows in ion storms. Even the 'roids.
Yup. Makes me want even more to see Ionized Ore mined from storms.
I got a geforce 6600 256mg and the game looks sweet.
It's funny though... my fps is the same no matter what settings I have turned on. Glow effects, antialiasing 4x... Stations and roids still kill it, with those on or off...
(shakes fist at microsoft)

For station & 'roids killing your framerate, play with the level of detail & distance level of detail settings. Distance Level of Detail is the only thing I don't keep maxed out all the way; with it all the way up, really big 'roid fields will drop my FPS noticably.
