is there any way to avoid agro-ing colector bots? i've been working on getting 10 queen kills, and it anoys me how all the colectors insist on attacking me rather than going about their own buisness and leading me back to the queen.
In my experience, only 1 or 2 collectors attack me, unless I either shoot one that isn't attacking me, or destroy one of the ones that is attacking me. Basically, if I don't shoot at all, but just dodge, then most of the collectors will go on mining.
while u watch them stay real far away... only go closer than 1000m once you see them head out.

Try the orun collectors. They are the lest agressive of all the collectors.
Agreed. A sector with all Oruns. Stay 1000m out until he quits mining. He'll scan for enemies to 'aggro' on, and if he finds none, head home.
They certainly attack me, Oruns through Dentek and Kannik. If one spots me, he and a mate come gunning for me. I only succeeded in following a bot when I happened upon one that was on his way out of the sector -- apparently once he's decided to go home, he's not interested in a fight ...?
What you have to do is shoot one (two in case of artemis) bots _once_. That bot or two will stay the only that attack you. Get yourself in position where you can see as many miningbeams as possible, do a bit of strafing (strafing in a big circle is usually enough to utterly confuse denteks and oruns) and if one beam disappears follow the bot. tada :)
Generally what I do is find a collector bot that's mining, come to a full stop right by it, and turn on my autododge bind. His friends come to attack, but can't track me fast enough to score more than a cople of trivial hits. Then I just wait until he stops mining, and he usually leaves straightaway. Cheap? Maybe. But it worked for me.
ok, the 1000m distance thing sounds helpfull. i've been doing the other sugestions (except the doge binde). i just get tired of them deciding to make me doge.
spuck and fprefect, those are interesting tips. Thanks, I'll try those.
What I do is fly through the field and scan every bot. It appears that a maximum of 2 bots will attack you at any one time, but if you destroy one, another will come attack you. So, don't shoot at anything. Denteks and Oruns are slow and not very maneuverable, so you can run from them back and forth through the field until you spot a bot flying away. Follow this one. Since there are already 2 bots chasing you, the bot you follow won't attack you. Stay within a thousand meters, and wait till he jumps. They generally fly a short circle before they jump, conveniently allowing you to catch up if you're in a slower ship.
One last suggestion. One night a couple weeks ago a bunch of us grouped and hunted Queens for a few hours. We ended up killing around 14. A couple of the original group kept at it the next couple nights, and personally I have 40 bot kills in a week. Group queen hunting is definitely the way to go. You all get XP and credit for the kill if you're in sector, and it lets you practice coordinated attacks and teamwork, which it looks like is becoming a much bigger part of the game, what with cap ships and stuff, and will probably continue to.
If you want to get a group together some night, find me. I'm on almost every night, and I'm always up for a queen hunt.

I can get a queen in about 10min with the way I do it. I search out a bot that is mining, and lock onto it and stay within the 1000m while it's mining. I usually pick up 1-2 bots of the same kind that try to defend the zone, but all you have to do is strafe dodge them till the collector your watching starts to move. Just follow it and if it goes to another rock, just wait, it will fill up soon, then it will fly off to go back to queen, there you go. Just make sure to stay within the 1000m before it jumps or you did all that for nothing.
My questions is…
Are there no Queens in Grey Space, cause there are no collectors to follow and the assaults don't have any reason to return to a queen? Do you have to do it the hard way by jumping to every sector?

There are not only Queens in Grey space, but they're SPECIAL Queens. And there actually are collectors in Grey space, but they're rather difficult to find, and the ones I've found have ALL stopped mining & tried to swarm me, so there's no chance to follow them back to the Queen. Gotta do it the old-fashioned way: jump empty sectors 'til you find a Queen.
